Same thing just happened to me - booked in November '15 for October '16, debited my credit card without notice 20 minutes after booking, though it was 'pay on arrival'; Rock Hotel cancelled booking on 29th August, 7 weeks before arrival date (10 months after booking through booking. com) and refuse to respond to my emails or web contact. Provided phone number on confirmation, website and emails is a dead number. Still no refund. Scammers
Oh my word looks like we are in for a long wait for a refund then
Very interesting. Much the same as my problem with the Rock Hotel. The full cost of three nights stay was taken from my account within minutes of booking and my accommodation was cancelled around two weeks before I was due to arrive. The money was taken by Travell Inn (note the two "l"s which is based in London. It is very interesting that the payment was credited to Travell Inn Ltd. The effect of this is that should you need to you can then take this company to small claims court here in the U.K., without having to go through the E.U. Small Claims Court.
Travell Inn Ltd appears to have been in administration briefly in 2014 but has come out of administration. However, it has failed to file its current accounts. Whilst this does not mean the company is about to go into administration, given the history of the company it may indicate that all is not well with Travell Inn Ltd.
When I was in Dublin earlier this month I walked past the "Rock Hotel". It just appeared as part of a normal Terrace with nothing to indicate it was a hotel. It was closed. If you paid accommodation by credit card you should be able to obtain a refund from the card provider
Yes if you raise a stink with your credit card company they will credit you.
