How is Javier doing? We are worried about him and we love his tacos!
We saw him June 15, and he looked tired. He smiled when we asked about his health, but he had obviously lost weight. He said the "government" was the reason he couldn't sell beer right now, but the tacos are as good as ever.
I was just in Cabo last week, but I unfortunately didn't get a chance to go by where he was last located. So I can't say for sure if he's still making his outstanding tortas. He was last located just east of hotel Mar DE Cortez - take a left (north) at the first street & he was about 3 or 4 storefronts up on the right hand side. To say "I don't know" is the most accurate thing I can say. I could use a beatles tune by him about now.......
We were there in May over Mother's Day and he had lost a lot of weight but not as energetic, you could tell the medical stuff was effecting him. He still did the most he could for the shows he puts on, and his taco's are still the best I've ever had. I sincerely hope his health improves and he gets his energy back.
The last report I saw was about a month ago. It said that Javier was back but that he's still not doing well. He was described as being weak and unable to work full time or do his floor shows. It seems to me that I saw another writer on Facebook say that the place was still locked up but that they were going again and would send an update. That was several weeks ago and I have not heard anything yet
Was there today and Javier was in outstanding form. Thanks to TripAdvisor, I sought out Gordo Lele and enjoyed a fine performance of "Let it Be" and some mighty fine tacos.
Went to visit Javier this morning. He has been in Mexico City for medical care and just got back yesterday. He's weak and cannot sing with the power he used to but he is still Javier with a twinkle in his eye. Thank goodness! He said he'll need to go back to DF for bypass but not sure when.
Saw Javier beginning of October 2016 he has lost weight and no longer sings.Looks tired but always welcomes old friends, Said he was waiting for an operation and hopefully he will be back to his old self. He is much needed and we consider his place a staple in Cabo.
He seemed good. Hard for him to sing. Strong as an Ox his don said.
He looks good.
Seems it hurts to sing he said.
His son said my dad is strong and a fighter!!
We stopped in and had tacos with Javier. He is unable to sing for lack of voice since being sick. We visited after eating and he sat with our son and threw tortillas to the birds. Check out the big smile.
I found his place open for business, but with someone else there.
Times are tough for him due to weight work and heat.
I did provide a picture of his note to all, that he is returning..
Wishing him the best.
