Palancar Reef Questions & Answers

Jacksonville, Florida

We are a family of 10, on a cruise to Cozumel. Where should we tell the cabbie to take us to get to Palancar reef boat rentals? How much are cabs? And, is it easy to get a cab back to ship?? Should we carry cash? Do they take U.S. dollars? And credit cards? Thank you in advance!

Cabs are everywhere, and pretty reasonable. Some cabs take credit cards, so ask your driver. They take US dollars. Do NOT use the standalone ATMs that are on the street. They are notorious for eating your card and there is really no way to get it back if you are on a cruise and it's after banking hours. Even if it's banking hours, getting someone to come out to get your card out of the ATM would take hours. (I've seen this happen to people repeatedly!) If you need an ATM, only use one inside a bank that is open!

Palancar Reef is accessible by boat; reserved for Scuba Divers. Contact Dive with Charro, the best boat for a family of divers and non divers.

Yes they take cash, and US dollars. Not sure about credit cards. You can walk from the cruise ship doc to the rental areas, it’s all right there. May want to see if you go online and get set up ahead though with a group that big. We did the three reef tour and it was well worth it. Taxis are fairly cheap, 7$ to downtown from the cruise doc but there’s good shopping and stuff right off your doc
