We have been told the soft sided duffle bag can on,y be 10x12x24 inches and weigh any where from 22lbs. To 44 lbs. can anyone tell me what the actual luggage restrictions are? I can pack to restrictions I just want to know what they are. Thank you so much!

Dear Kym,

Thank you for contacting us regarding this, it is a common question and sadly a very common problem. In short, you are 100% correct, the restrictions are:

44 lbs (20 kgs),

Only soft bags will be accepted - no frames, rigid structures or collapsible handles and,

the ideal dimensions should be 10x12x24 inches (25 cm wide x 30 cm high x 62 cm long).

This is not to challenge our guests, the reason we ask guests to stick to these guidelines is due to the size of the baggage compartments on the light aircrafts (which will do your inner camp transfers) is only 10 inches high, so the pilots must have the ability to manipulate the bag into the compartment. If your bag differs from the above dimensions slightly it is not a problem as long as it is soft (duffel like) with no inner frame we can make a plan.

The 44 lbs restriction includes your camera equipment, luggage and hand luggage, should you require, arrangements can be made or excess luggage paid and accommodated if you make arrangements prior to your travel. For more information about this please contact your travel agent.

To help with these limitations please bear in mind that almost all safari camps/ hotels provide complimentary toiletries as well as a daily laundry service.

Hope this helps, should you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us,

The matter has been correctly addressed by Wilderness Safari - we have travelled with Winderness many times int to the Delta and have never experienced problems with baggage weight or size restrictions. The alllowances are very reasonable and duffel type grips are also easier to transport in the safari vehicles from the airstrips to the camps.

You fly on light aircraft so there is not much room for luggage in particular hard cases. We carried 20 kg/ 44lbs in soft bags and had no problems. You should ask the operator about official allowance but we had no problems
