Glencolmcille Folk Village Questions & Answers

Juneau, Alaska

I'm just starting to plan a May/June trip and wonder how easy it is to get to this area...buses, etc. I'll be starting in Sligo once I get to Ireland.

Hello,

Bus Eireann goes from Donegal town to Glencolumbcille. It's not very regular, but enough to get there! Glencolumbkille is the end of the line too - so last stop for the bus.

Do a search for 'Bus Eireann Ireland' do a journey planner or 'buy tickets online'. Buying tickets online saves 10% too.

Have a nice time! That bus trip is beautiful, by the way - along the coast! :)

I'm in agreement with Patrick M. I think this area is only available by car. I don't remember seeing any buses in this area.

I'm not sure about buses/trains in that area. We travelled by car when we visited. We stayed in Killybegs when we visited Glencolmcille. It was a great place to travel from.

I'm not certain about transportation as this area is a bit remote. The road narrow and wends it's way along the coast up along the cliffs. We actually had a private driver during our trip which allowed us access to places and to see things we normally would not have had we been solo. There was a van with a group of about 12 travelers that we passed so I do know it is on the radar..

The area is breath taking---safe and happy travels

Hi. I know that there's a bus service to Donega town from Sligo. The little folk village is a bit off the beaten track, I think you would need a car to get there. I have only been once but I remember it's opposite a nice little empty beach.

Hope that helps
