Unfortunately Regent Seven Seas Marina did not meet our expectations. First time on a 6 star ship anc did not warrant the 21k price tag . Did this cruise for destinations to Greenland Boston ect but ports cancelled due to bad weather ect Service staff on board outstanding but food and entertainment lacklustre to say the least. Free shore excursions terrible ..uninteresting and down right waste of time ....caters to mostly American market over 70 . Many other cruise lines like CUNARD who do a much better job for half the price .

10 day cruise (our second to Caribbean and first time on Regent SS) and the service was excellent. There were a few things however that could have been better. For example, the food was inconsistent; we tried Surf and Turf 3 times, each at a different restaurant and all three were over cooked and tough and two lobsters were luke warm. Second, their pre-cruise 'dress attire' is precise in their write up of what is expected in the dining rooms however, we saw more than a few who ignored the recommended dress code ie shorts in the Compass Rose and knit polo shirts in the upscale restaurants...just a few examples but not nearly 'dressy or business casual' in many places. I actually had emailed a cruise consultants prior to departure asking if dressy white jeans were permitted; he said probably as long as they had no rips or holes but definitely no blue jeans as the maitre'd would not permit them in any of the dining room. Fine with that but shorts were allowed? Packing would have been a lot easier had we known their recommended dress code is not really a requirement, just their recommendation. Third, their write ups for certain excursions could have been more explicit with better details of what to expect 'getting there'. Our zip line bus was open air (ok with that) thru a very poor, dirty town and a half hour (to and from) of the ride was on dusty, bumpy dirt roads; same with the ATV's which most people think are ridden on a beach but NOT here, dusty roads with lots of rocks to dodge. (I would have worn a mask had we known) Plus all of the equipment we used ie zip line/ATV helmets, gloves, river tubing life jackets etc was dirty and smelly. Having never done either of these things before, perhaps that is normal? Over all, we did enjoy this all inclusive cruise for a winter get-a-way and we did meet an awesome couple who became our best 'cruise' friends but we're not sure we'd cruise Regent again.

Overall, it was a solid Regent cruise. It is an older ship and pales in comparison to its newer siblings like Splendor and Explorer. Oddly, the cabin seemed more worn than those on its little sister, Navigator. But the food and service were good, the ports of call (including three days in Israel) were excellent. Our penthouse cabin was clean and impeccably maintained by butler and steward, but it needs updating. Some of the wallpaper by the bed was peeling and frizzy. All that said, I would do this cruise again in a heartbeat. It is far superior to other luxury cruises, and the “all-in-one” upfront pricing that includes business class airfare is great. The staff knew we were celebrating an anniversary and went out of their way to mark it.

Regent advertises as the Worlds most luxurious cruise line & we completeley agree with this . We have travelled on the Explorer and Splendour 3 times over the last 2 Years which were absoluteley fantastic . We also have a back to back booked on Granduer in 3 Months . Our recent back to back on Mariner from Venice to New York is not in the same league . Yes the penthouse suite is large and comfy but its old & the shower in the bath with an old shower cutain is 2 star not 6 . The food is fine and the staff are the best in the World but the ship is very tired . Regent Mariner has a very loyal following mostly of an older age & i know this ship is full for future cruises . All the first time younger regent cruisers we met were very dissapointed and said this was there last with Regent . This is a big shame because the newer ships are awesome and Mariner is not really a good flag waver for the brand . On this cruise we missed 2 days in Bermuda due to weather . This is understandable and we dont really mind sea days especially on a crossing . This meant we arrived in New York 2 days early and had to wait in the harbour . We were not allowed to go ashore but it was nice and sunny so why not sit around the pool for 2 days ! . Concidering we had no where to go i was astounded when they emptied the pool & spent the 2 days painting it . It was like the cruise had finished and the crew spent 2 days doing maintainance all over the ship . Yes we also had to lug 4 cases accross a 4 lane highway to get a taxi too . Not sure if thats Regents problem though .
