There were many things to enjoy on our week-long trip from Nuremburg to Amsterdam. The cabin was small but perfectly formed , with a comfortable bed. The operator dealt smoothly with a lack of water in the Main canal, which required us to switch boats on day two. Food and drink were copious and of high quality. Excursions were interesting and a sensible length. Room service was immediate. Service as a whole was courteous and friendly. Cruise director JJ and his sidekick Georgia were ever-ready to help. But a couple of gripes: the public areas were quite chilly and technical gremlins affected the personal audio guide system and, ironically, the online feedback site. But the thing that stuck in the mind afterwards was the taxi arranged to take us to our hotel. We were charged €30 for what we discovered the following day was a €12 ride. It left an unnecessarily bad taste.…

we had a superb cruise on the Ruby which was down to the team and itinerary . the team on board were excellent the food was great , the only reason the rating is average is that the boat is not any longer a 5 star experience , the rooms are tired , the wall covering peeling at joins , the beds wobble , the bathroom is tired with chips on the work surface . Given that this is a premium price you have to expect a premium product in every detail and in the rooms this is not the case . There is no pool on board where as there is on newer boats , the wifi on board is poor with no reception at all on the top deck , again not a premium service . that aside the team are fantastic…

As a celebration of my 80th (EVERYBODY, who was on Board, now knows who we are), my wife and I did a 15 day River Cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam, beginning in late August, on the Scenic Ruby. There CANNOT be a better River Cruise in the WORLD - Jewels of Europe. We were unbelievably fortunate to have the opportunity to lease the Owner's Suite (thank you Glen Moroney) and have "Ovi" as our 24/7 butler. G.M., Milan, is in a league BY HIMSELF - what a super guy and from "Yoko's" Serbia. Our Polish Cruise Director, Yvonne, is ALSO "one of a kind" - TERRIFIC. We enjoy many fantastic restaurants in any given year but found our evening at "Table La Rive" to be incredibly well done as were the 2 dinners we attended in "Portobellos". The buffet breakfasts were "to die for" accompanied EACH DAY by several glasses of EXCELLENT champagne. The "on vessel' and "off vessel" Events were wonderful and well organized. We could go on but will conclude by saying that the STAFF were ALL marvelous and the WHOLE EXPERIENCE "A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE" - we will be back - Peter & Ann.…

As a Cruise zealot, I was a little sceptical about a River Cruise and what this style of water travel entails. The thought fo having to portage to another ship because of high or low water struck a fearful chord in me. Not withstanding, I became part of the roster on the Scenic Ruby making a 15 day Amsterdam - Budapest, Jewel of the Rhine voyage. On board I was greeted to a fine lobby armed with a manned reception area and a tiny jewelry boutique. I was wisked off to my Royal Suite, a spacious luxury room with a living room and a private balcony with a retractable window. Tech appliances included a large LED TV, WiFi enablement with a customized TV video streaming system. The room included a complimentary, fully loaded bar, meaning I would never go dry, and a king bed that was uncompromisingly comfortable with its 'sleep tech' feature. The bath was adequate in size with upscale amenities and toiletries. Scenic program designers create a comprehensive program of complementary experiences that reflect on region, its customs and traditions. Travellers can choose from Scenic Enrich, ...enticing upgraded activities ashore, Scenic Daily Program....special day-by-day curated programs and Scenic Free Choice ....free to do what you want. One such Scenic Enrich event was a Viennese concert which played selections from Austria composers: Strauss. Mozart and Beethoven....very memorable. Scenic Tailor-made provided guests with apps and headsets with listening capabilities on tours. E bikes were available for exploration on daily structured activities as well as free time experiences. In the evenings , guests were treated to extraordinary onboard cultural and entertainment venues. From a gentleman playing the zinter (1 of 5 worldly pro's), an instrument made famous through the movie, The 3rd Man (Harry Lime - Orson Wells), to a string quartet (3 girls, 1 boy) who banged out the operatics with the flair of the masters. On board, the eating facilities included stylish Crystal Dining Room and a casual bistro, the Ruby Salon, with a spacious bar lounge, small library and self serve coffee and tea. Breakfast is buffet with an omelette station , lunch can buffet or menu and diner is served in unassigned tables. As a treat, Table la Riverdale, situated forward in the dining room serves a 6 course diner, by invitation, with paired wine (beef tenderloin.... unbelievable). A similar experience is available at the Portobello. Overall the food was pretty special on the Ruby and I particularly liked the chef skirting around guest tables to see how things were gong that night. Another meal that got a lot of fanfare was the BBQ on the upper-deck, no doubt the food, wine, camaraderie and castle backdrop all contributed to the occasion. The Ruby, dubbed , the Space Ship, is spacious given the limitations of a river cruiser. Its all inclusive program means all-inclusive. In general all staff provided exemplary service through the entire course of the trip. So, if a River Cruise is in your future, and you desire a Cruiser with plenty luxe, spacious, full inclusivity.........try the Scenic Ruby ....A Gem of a River Cruiser.…

We were suppose to be on Scenic Jasper, but, at the last minute they put us on the Ruby. That was the first disappointment. Our tours on this trip were disorganized and boring. The food was okay but not great. The staff were excellent. I had a better time on Uniworld and will book My next River Cruise with them.…
