After riding a New York City bus this afternoon, I realized that the Number ONE reason why everyone should cruise on #Virginvoyages Scarlet Lady or any of the new Virgin ships, and one that surpasses the glorious food, and wonderful crew, the superb knowledgeable bartenders, or the way Scarlet Lady glides through the sea with barely a ripple, the one reason that makes Scarlet Lady the premier ship on the 7 seas is that when you are on board, you never hear a child screaming, you never hear an infant wailing, you never hear young boys arguing and fighting and you never hear parents cajoling and threatening their kids, your evenings are never disturbed by all of the little darlings on board for Christmas Break or Thanksgiving Celebrations or Summer Vacations. Kids are not allowed on Virgin Voyages. Period.

Virgin Voyages was already starting strong with their 18+, Wifi Included, and ALL Eateries Included (only the Fancy Coffee Shop wasn't free) policies - they cancelled an original booking we had and we ended up not only being able to book a replacement for that voyage AND the Mayan Sol trip we got back from last week. The Voyages app is a KEY component to every step of your sailing, from pre embarkation stuff you can (and should) complete before the day of, to creating an agenda for your voyage (incl. "Shore Things" and dinner reservations), and a bunch of other stuff. So get used to it ahead of time so you know where to find everything. We were able to book dinner reservations, link our RFID bracelets, and book excursions 15 days ahead of time for or cabin class (Central Sea Terrace) but any of the onboard stuff wasn't available until the day of mostly - and that's the only thing I wish had been different about it. Our cabin was clean, had absolutely sufficient storage areas for all our luggage and things - the bathroom was lacking in hanging space for toiletry bags AND towels, but next time I'll probably just hang the bags on the door and the used towels near the closet. The in-room controls being mostly done through a tablet is wirelessly charged so you can just set it in there at night, and keep it near your bed when you're chilling in your room. Razzle Dazzle, the veggie focused place, and The Dock House, their Mediterranean small plates place, were the two favorites for my husband - and while I enjoyed each and every option... nothing WOWed me overwhelmingly like I expected it to. The steak skewers at The Dock House, the Passion Fruit Tart from Sweet Shop (The Galley), the dakgangjeong (Gunbae), and the Smoked Salmon Rye Toast from Hot Off the Press (The Galley) were standout items though. I'd try almost everywhere again... The Test Kitchen as long as the menu was changed up, and Gunbae at a less busy time of night. The Shore Things were... it was 50/50. My excursion for the second port was cancelled the night before, so I decided not to get off in Bimini at all, but the salsa and salsa one in Costa Maya was cute and I got a nice nap on the beach when we had like 20 minutes. Definitely a lot higher priced excursions than I'm used to with other cruise lines, but it was fine since there were only two ports - if you're taking an itinerary with more than that, though, you might want to ask yourself what experience is most worth it (like I'll do in October 2022). The gym facilities were NEVER full, though I suspect where classes were held definitely were. I wish the walking path had more of a barrier so on windy days we could have still walked it, but there's a GIANT Virgin logo on that deck so I can understand not obscuring it. The pool is pretty small but it's more about sunning than anything, but there are multiple hot tubs and a conversation pool on the same deck, which was nice. Speaking of nice, everything was ALWAYS clean - possibly due to not having kids carrying plates around - and they were VERY well set up for hand sanitization around the ship. Within the first day we'd already made the decision to make Virgin Voyages our cruise line of choice, and we're looking forward to our next sailing.
