Departed NYC for a 13 day voyage through Eastern Caribbean islands and back to NYC. Thought the QM2 would be a once in a lifetime experience. My husband, myself and my sister in a seperate cabin. We were all in Britannia Club balcony rooms. The ship itself is very pretty and spacious with lots of activities for sea days. No complaints about the ship itself. The very disappointing items were: untrained staff, lots of language issues and poor customer service. For the amount we paid in upgrades, wifi ( $$$$$) , drink packages, excursions, shopping etc , you would expect some level of cheerful, helpful customer service. Second, poor quality food - very inconsistent , tiny portions and frankly some inedible food. This was really suprising. We had an upgraded dining room with very attentive staff but the food was just disappointing the whole voyage whether in our dining room, via room service or in the pub. Kings Court was absolute chaos- no flow of traffic, harried staff and dirty tables. Most people to plates to other lounges. Bathrooms- old, old, old. We upgraded our cabin for and additional $1800. I would hate to see what the other bathroom looked like. Ours had a yellowed shower curtain with stains. The whole tan bathroom was bleak. Also sometimes the toilet would just stop flushing. Lastly, excursions- please Cunard do a better job of vetting your excursion venues! St Lucia beachbreak we were privy to a knife fight between beach attendant and a local pandering to tourists. We are well travelled although this was only my second cruise - the “lesser” cruise line we used was a much nicer experience.…

Sadly, this is probably my last voyage on the QM2. My most recent was last August 2023 for a Transatlantic. I did enjoy that tremendously but in the year since I have been on, things fell far short of my expectations this time. I was on the Christmas/New Year's 2024 sailing from NYC and wow. What a difference a year makes. First, there were a few highlights. I did relax and read five entire books so that was joy in and of itself. I've no complaints about the staff who work hard and are nice. I've no complaints about the shape of the ship. However, I recall there being so much to do on the last trip that I was so looking forward to this one so I could do the ones I didn't have time to get to. The talks were meager. The art class was a disappointment. There was NO CLASS. It was folks handed a photo copy of something to copy and then the "teacher" wandering around telling people to squint at their painting. I have taught art classes. Oh my. The supplies? Yes. Great deal for the $35 but the CLASS part? Negative. There was no "class". The biggest disappointment had to have been the food. I lost a pound on my trip if that highlights how little I ate. My poor waiter at dinner was starting to worry about me as each night I'd order something and then take one bite and not finish. I remember the food being SO GOOD last August. This time? As another reviewer said, "bland and at times inedible". I ordered soup several nights (gave up after the fourth time) because (running joke in our family now) it appeared to be the same exact bland brown sludge regardless of what the menu called it. I know I could have asked for something else but the other items looked less appetizing or I'd already tried and they weren't good either. I lived on the cheese and crackers from Kings Court for the most part and a few staples from Corinthia (their breakfast potatoes with quail eggs & flat breads were good). Although the $7 grilled cheese in the Golden Lion was enormous and absolutely scrumptious. I truly love the QM2 and the vibe and the quiet relaxation on the ship but repeatedly I heard people discussing how bad the food has become. And, coming out here to leave a review, I see similar feedback. I am currently researching for my next cruise. I'd wanted it to be Cunard to Alaska or the South Pacific but I don't want to repeat that experience and plan to take my daughter and parents and my daughter was so disappointed with food options that she actually said if I pick Cunard again, she'd pass on going. I'll keep an eye out for future reviews to see if they fix things but for now, off to explore other lines. Sad. Really sad. I'd wanted this to be MY line.…

Not happy with Jan 3, sailing. There must of been some issue with the heating because the ship was quite cold. I had a balcony cabin and reported several times that cabin was freezing. By the end of transatlantic from Brooklyn to Southampton I had to plug in the hair dryer and use it as a space heater.…

Lots to like on the QM2, but some dissapointments. Our last voyage on the ship was in 2010 for a crossing, which we loved. Despite its age, the ship is still elegant and spacious. The ship was beautifully decorated for the holidays and New Years celebrations were fun. Many nice bars offered a variety of musical genres each evening. Entertainment in the well designed main theater varied, with some good production shows and several enjoyable individual entertainers. However, the comedian and magician/juggler were not very entertaining. We attended daily tea in the Queen's Room several times and were happy that this service has maintained its quality. There are comforable seating areas througout the ship, including the best library at sea. We apprciated having a printed daily program, finding the onboard app to be limited in usefulness. Overall service staff were friendly, but many had limited Enllish skills. We attended many of the "Cunard Insights" lectures which varied in quality from good to just ok. Based on our prior experience, the selection of speakers and topics fell short of our expectations. Services in the spa were top quality, but tended towards expensive pricing. The biggest dissapointment on this cruise was the quality of the food. While Main dining service was excellent, the food served was at best ok and sometimes inedible. Soups were often cold when served. Some dishes bore no resemblance to the menu description. Turkey dinner served on Christmas evening was dry with meager sides. Concerning the Kings Court, it seemed that 80% of the offerings were repeated day to day. The main servery area is small and displays were not very appetizing. The area serving hamburgers, pizza, etc., was quite a distance from the main service area. While there was always plenty of seating in the Kings Court, it was hard to get beverage service due to limited number of wait staff. Our balcony cabin was well designed with plenty of storage space and good ighting, good temperature controls, comfortable bed, nice linens, robe, slippers and towels. We appreciated twice daily service by a friendly and prompt cabin attendant. We asked for ice on the first day and received fresh ice every day of the cruise without asking again. We probably will think twice about another Cunard cruise in the near future.…

Spent two weeks sailing transatlantic from Southampton to New York and back. Had a fabulous time. Stayed in a penthouse suite in deck 10 which was open plan but had enough separation between the dining room, lounge and bedroom yet kept the sense of space. The balcony was about three times the size of most with sun loungers and a dining table. A bit late in the year for sun bathing but we were blessed with some good weather now and again. Being in a Queen's suite we had access to the Queen's Grill dining room which was absolutely fantastic. Really didn't have a bad meal and service was always great. We tried a couple of the specially restaurants and were a little disappointed with the curry and chinese offering as these were in a section of the buffet restaurant and people still used it as a cut through which spoilt the ambience. The steak in the Veranda was very good. Not forgetting afternoon tea in the Queen's room (not too be confused with the Queen's Grill which is only accessable by Queen's Grill suites guests) which was a real treat. Some of the communal areas for quite crowded at times but we always had our suite to fall back on. I was worried the we'd get bored with effectively two weeks of sea days but between the entertainment, enrichment lecture and the planetarium we hardly had time to read all the books we had lined up. Really enjoyed the experience and the gala nights gave a good excuse to dress up. Loved it and would certainly do it again.…
