Departed NYC June 30, 2024 Staff: Excellent. The ship and interior spaces: Spotless. Like new. Cabin/Bed/Bathroom: Spotless room, small, very small. Anymore than two people in this room is a crowd. Adequate Bathroom. Very, very comfortable bed. Excellent Housekeeping. Breakfast and Lunch buffet: Food was very good but conditions were crowded and noisy depending on the time of day. Dinner: Two specialty restaurant nights, five restaurant nights. Excellent food and service. Tip: book all of your Dinners ahead of time and book the earliest seating to avoid waiting on line. Bars: Top shelf liquor/beer. Excellent bar tenders. Crowded, depending where the bar is. Bermuda: Dockyard was interesting but you need to leave there to see Bermuda. Bermuda is $$$$$ expensive. (like NYC on steroids expensive) Food, taxis, beaches are all expensive. Dockyard is isolated from the best beaches requiring a taxi or bus ride. Renting a lounge and umbrella is $$$$ expensive. TIP: NCL provides a ferry to St. George for free but you need to get on early and check the return schedule. Otherwise, Dockyard has ferry service to Hamilton & St. George for $5 a head. There is nothing in Hamilton unless you like to shop. St. George has a great beach for the kids, Tobacco Bay, a 15 min. easy walk from the ferry. The biggest asset Bermuda has is its people. It is hard to meet and get to know the locals on a cruise. You will just have to return for that. I am not a frequent cruiser. I am a little surprised at some of the negative reviews I have read here. I suppose if you cruised multiple times, you have more to compare this one to. Overall, I was impressed with NCL. BUT! This is the only negative, and it was a big one for me. The ship was very crowded. I heard there were close to 5K passengers. The deal breaker for me was when we disembarked in NYC. I followed directions, left my bags out and the next day woke up to madness and chaos. There seemed to be no crowd control. It took about 90 minutes waiting in very crowded conditions, much like Time Square on New Years Eve, in order to get off the ship. You can avoid this to some degree if you take the early exit and carry your own stuff off the ship. You will wait on line but that goes quick. The earlier you get off, the better. I still recommend NCL/Joy and hope NCL gets its crowd control issues fixed. Enjoy.

Pure sh-t hole. Worst service i have ever experienced on any cruise. My 11th cruise… 1st one on NCL AND THE LAST. 2-1/2 hrs for dinner… no rsvp accepted for dining. Food came out cold. Steak was shoe leather. Could not get in any shows but one. deck ran out of towels pool side and took an hour to wait for more. Real let down. No towel animals. Toom was not made up until 4 pm! Got back from on island all day to get get ready for dinner and rooms not made up. No towels. I hot better service from circle 8 motels!!! Pure sh-t show. RC ir Carnival forever!!!!

As a veteran of more than thirty cruises this one was underwhelming. The pools were far too small and sat on the 16 th deck in an area that was strangely configured with the 2 small pools tucked in a corner and on the side. The open space was in the middle, crowded and difficult to navigate. The stated policy of not saving lounge chairs was never enforced. Venues for entertainment were small and insufficient for the number of passengers on this ship and often shows were “standing room only “. I never experienced this on any other cruise I’ve been on. The staff members were uninformed about the dining package. We had a perk from our American Express card which was a complimentary dinner at ale Bistro, the staff needed to confirm with superiors that the dinner was not part of the Norwegian dining package and that took time when we attempted to dine at La Cucina ; they insisted that we had already used our 2 specialty restaurants at Teppanyaki and Le Bistro. The disembarkation process was disorganized, the announcement said we’d be leaving from deck 7, midship. Instead they had us standing in a very long line which snaked and looped around, that ended up with us getting off the back of the ship. It probably would have been better if they spaced out calling groups to disembark more. An average cruise experience. Beware of large ships.

They call it “freestyle” but I call it “free-for-all”. It was incredibly disorganized and disappointing. Starting with our room not being ready until hours after we were onboard. Meal times were a nightmare, especially at sea! There were complimentary restaurants that had different menus, but in order to get into one, you would have to line up way before they opened, or wait hours after, in an extremely crowded and noisy environment. Shows were in venues that were too small and very crowded. There were only two "hot" tubs available unless you paid a huge fee to access the private ones. The main hot tubs were constantly filled with children, spitting and throwing water on each other. The other one was large and listed as "Adults Only" but was in an area of the ship that was closed for private functions every day/evening. The one afternoon we got to go in, the water was barely warm, let alone hot. Every time I contacted the Service desk, the answer, no matter the question, was some form of "Oh well" Everything but the very basic was a payfor, you even had to pay for room service. The "free" 150 minutes of internet time could only be accessed through the NCL app, which constantly froze, which meant, if you were on the internet at the time, you could not sign out so your minutes were used up, even though you were not using them. I signed on to check my email (usually a 3-5 minute task), the app froze and when I could get back in, it had used 51 minutes of my time. It happened twice to me. Cruising is my favourite way to travel and I have gone on several other lines, compared to them this was by miles the absolute worst cruise experience. I would not go on another NCL cruise, even if it were the only option. Bermuda was wonderful and the tours we took, were stellar! The food was mostly good, sometimes a little too cool, but usually tasty, and the cabin staff were friendly and very helpful.

We sailed on the Norwegian Joy March 30th 2024. Overall excellent cruise. The balcony room we had 11882 was very nice with the bed close to the sliding door to the balcony. All of the staff were excellent. We enjoyed the amount and variety of venues, restaurants and bars that the ship offered. Pool area - two pools, one for adults and one for kids. Seems like both pools are too small for the ship size. Yes, there were a lot of early morning chairs hogs out. The staff did start to take the unattended towels off unattended chairs later in the morning but they should address it right in the beginning. When 1 person shows up at 6:30am and drops 6 towels on chairs and walks away the staff should stop them right then. Smokers on the pool deck are designated to a smoking area which is great for nonsmokers. Some of the entertainment held in the atrium should have been held in the main theater due to the large crowds and lack of seating. Not so newlywed game. Deal or no Deal. Buffet- large but did seem over crowded at times. Nice variety of foods. Staff were excellent. People.... stop licking your fingers and touching the serving utensil that others will use and when you sneeze and cough don't do it over the food that others will be eating. Seen that so many times on this cruise. No self awareness for others. Did everyone forget how not to spread gems? Don't blame the ship when everyone gets sick. Ports Harvest caye was beautiful. Our ship was the only one there that day, plenty of room for everyone. Costa Maya is a beautiful port with a lot to do but 4 ships on that day so it was so crowded no room was not enjoyable. With the larger passenger's ships being built wondering what is the future of these ports and their natural excursion capacity. How can ports hold 15,000-20,000 passengers at one time???? Bottom line: Sailed on Norwegian several times and always enjoyed them.
