Just got back from a trip, entertainment not great but you get what you pay for! the entertainment team did really try though. Some food better than others. The speciality restaurant really good! Mabutol Rammel who was a waiter in the indoor pool room said hello on the first day remembered our name, and was fantastic, always a smile on his face, always welcomed with open arms and chatty, left a tip in our room for him with his name and staff number on really hope this reached him? (Is it possible please that someone can notify us of this? ) As we did not see him on our last day. This is the main reason for our 5 star review. All staff waitresses and waiters really good at there job to. Embarkation and debarkation quick and efficient. Just a little more information needed about ports that passengers might not know, for example the fact that Amsterdam closes at 5! Not all guests where aware of this, as some don’t have internet on board. The photographers around the ship tend to annoy you a little especially on your last day in the middle of trying to eat your meal! Cabin very clean everyday and ship very clean. Overall lovely holiday.

Intersting experience for the first time and encouraging to experience other MSC cruises and other destinations. Generally good management and planning. Food was average. Entertainment not so entertaining. and needs to be richer with better music, themes and performances. Offer of beverages was not attractive with rather high price obliging you to pay 250 + Euros for two and the whole itinerary. Music during the night was not so sentimental and audible due to crowd and the type of music played, particularly concerning piano which needed to be louder and with more echo/reverberations. MYkonos excursion was good but not others like split, venice or Bari (Locorotondo). Excursions are needed to include various events and also local tastes and shopping oportunity. Other than Mykonos, other excursions lacked enough attactiveness.

We enjoyed our vacation, in spite of the difficulties and disappointments with MSC. Started with poor communication pre-trip. We were required to have COVID insurance to board, but there was no information regarding this provided at any time by MSC. In addition, our itinerary stated Venice as a port of call, but this was changed 3 weeks prior to debarking, and we were not notified at all. Instead of Venice, we were in Monfalcone, which was a very unattractive port. Even our boarding documents, emailed two days prior to disembarkment, still showed Venice as port of call. Another major issue we had before even getting on board was the lack of information on where to board at. Piraeus is a HUGE port in Athens, and MSC was at the very end of the port. Even though the terminal was clearly marked, all communication from MSC lacked any terminal information, how to get there, what to look for, or anything of the sort. Instead of taking a taxi directly to the terminal, we needed up walking a significant distance in the 115 degree Athens heat. I re-read all the info from MSC multiple times, and a simple "Cruise terminal B Themistocles" would have sufficed. Due to COVID, MSC did not allow you to leave the boat at ports unless you were on an MSC sanctioned excursion. While we didn't like this, we understood the decision. The problem was that we were not notified of this, in any way, prior to disembarking. Therefore, we did not know that we needed to book excursion for our first ports, in advance, to prevent them being completely full. Because of this, we were not able to book anything for the first port of call in Mykonos, Greece. On board, the room was great, with plenty of activities. We stayed very entertained throughout the trip, including days we could not get off the boat at port. The disappointment came with the food. It was, excluding a few choice items, awful. We had a regular dinner seating, and ate there every night of the 7 day cruise. Fish was wretched, often smelled and tasted as if it had gone bad, and we rarely had more than two bites of seafood. Beef and pork were way overcooked. Bread and desserts felt as if they were cut from large, box store, sheet cakes or bulk purchased. There was a risotto on the menu almost every night, which was gummy with hard rice and very little flavor. I had an "egg sauce" pasta for lunch one day that was literally penne pasta and scrambled eggs. The cafeteria/buffet options were extremely poor, excluding the pizza, and one day they had duck breast that was delicious. They always had burgers and hot dogs, which were lukewarm or cold to the touch, no matter how early you got there. We went to the main show from the entertainment team each night. These were just....weird. Costuming was extremely odd, with cheap and unsettled wigs, poor fitting dresses, and the dancers were very rarely in sync for large group numbers. The themes didn't make sense and didn't really tell much of a story even though they billed it as such. The exception would be the "Sapiens" show, which had a lot of unique talents such as unicycling, and gymnastics. Vocals were great for any live voice songs, but the dancers were so off-putting, it was hard to enjoy. Every night we left the show asking "what did we just watch"? Having been on other cruise lines, i was expecting a lot more from MSC, but was very disappointed. We won't be cruising with them again. One last note, Luis in the Sporting Bar was a shining star each time we were there. Great conversation, good drinks, fun and nice bartender. We really appreciated his care for our vacation.

We were originally scheduled on a Celebrity Mediterranean cruise that was cancelled due to Covid. We had already made reservations before and after the cruise so we were in scramble mode to fill the 7 days. We saw this cruise on MSC had the exact sailing dates and similar ports so we booked it. We got the Premium Plus drink package which gave us access to anything the ship had to drink. I've heard this all inclusive package is going away soon but it was sure nice to sample $200 bottles of liquor all week. The staff was amazing, as they had to know 4 languages fluently and would switch from one to another without hesitation as different guests spoke with them. There was a limited capacity due to Covid, so it was like we had the ship to ourselves. Embarkation in Piraeus, Greece was an absolute nightmare due to Greek authorities. I realize this was out of MSC's hands, but they could have offered us water or something for the 2 hours we sat in a hot tent at the port waiting for someone to verify our passports. We weren't a fan of the "social bubble" rule regarding only being allowed to leave the ship if on a sanctioned MSC excursion, but in the time of Covid, I guess we were just fortunate to be sailing. The ship was 80% Italians, which we thought was great, but Americans should be aware that English is not the primary language on the ship, but it is second, and every employee onboard speaks English.

Travel date should read May 2019. A big push was on, when we boarded to sell drink packages, the number of drinks we would have had to consume just to break even, would have seen the bartender cutting me off before I reached the goal. But there was no danger of that as the service was so slow, you couldn’t get that many drinks. The dinners were quite good as far as quality and choices, but were a little small on the portions. There was no tea or coffee served in the dinning room, and if you wanted water with your meal, be prepared to anti-up. The breakfasts and lunches were buffet affairs, with a good selection to choose from. Problem was that having got your meal, trying to find a seat was just about impossible . The staff were in no hurry to clear the tables, so even if there was no other passengers sitting at a table, it was usually covered in dirty dishes. Sitting on the fantail deck was quite enjoyable, if a unoccupied table could be found that was covered with dishes. Once you found a table you were stuck, table service for drinks was almost nonexistent, and if you got up to go to the bar yourself the table was occupied when you returned. The use of a deck chair was another reason for them to reach into your wallet, very pricey. Pools and hot tubs were not sufficient for the number of passengers on board, And were usually full of children, with no time’s reserved for adults. Entertainment was amateurish at best. Boarding and disembarking were unorganized and would try a saint’s patience. The only thing saving our trip were the day excursions, visited some great places and although getting on and off the ship was trying they were enjoyable. With this cruise, we had two cruises for the price of one, our first and our last!
