Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Everyone in our party has been on other cruise ships with other companies than TUI Marella. That being said one person had travelled with them five years ago. To put this in context. Everyone we talked to on this cruise had had a negative experience with management or the reception staff on this ship. From the moment we arrived on the boat, the chap on reception who was answering a query from one of our party was so ignorant to her that we eventually just told her to leave. The rooms are small and although they were clean they were basic. We went to the main buffet and to be honest it was fine, but as the cruise went on we named it the piggery. The food in the other restaurants were very hit or miss one evening it was lovely the next night it was awful. Sometimes the food was hot and sometimes it was lukewarm. It was very evident that the ship was totally understaffed, especially in the restaurants and bars. The staff that were there were amazing, the managers were not, we personally witnessed managers shouting and cursing at staff in front of multiple passengers. We also spoke with multiple people who also shared their experiences of this happening to them too. There were less than 10 entertainers who did the shows each evening, there were about four or 5 singers/bands who sang at the pool/bars at night. They sand the same songs every time they performed, even the playlist of chart songs that they played by the pool each day were also on a loop and by the end of the week we were all so sick of listening to them. The pool was a death trap as we witnessed over 20 people fall, staff took photos on some occasions but we heard that on many occasions they blamed the passengers for not taking care. The worst part was the complete lack of customer care or service especially from reception. I went up to ask why we had payed for the WiFi (advertised on the boarding card cover and on their paperwork in the room as being free) we all paid £40.00 but when you tried to login it didn’t work. We went to reception the following day and were informed that this had been used up already because of background apps. I informed them that I had turned off my WiFi and my data when it obviously wasn’t working and was told that couldn’t be true as my data was used. Total con just to get more money. They also when I informed them that our travel agent had spoken with Marella directly prior to us travelling to confirm that we would have a room booked for us to have on the day of our departure; this was confirmed by TUI, but when we went a couple of days into the cruise to get more details on this we were informed that it wasn’t booked and that there were no rooms left. When I complained that was what had been agreed I was told that this was my problem, he then when on to tell me that he didn’t care and if we gave a bad review TUI wouldn’t care either as they had our money. We witnessed the appalling treatment of other passengers being verbally abused by reception staff! This has been a dreadful experience, we spoke with our travel agent who said that she’d received multiple complaints by others on our cruise and since. We will NEVER go on another Marella cruise again. In fact we aren’t likely to use TUI again as we have had a much better experience with other companies. Shame on you TUI

Marella Explorer TUI trip Iconic islands visiting Greek islands including Corfu, Rhodes, Mykonos and Santorini is the best ship and crew we have been on. Excellent service and fine dining experience. Strangely even all inclusive they charge for water and drinks advertised such as fever tree and diet coke are not available generally but that's the only downside. The highlights are the destinations, dining, bars, crew and entertainment. Our cabin team Munif, Param and Rekdo did a superb job. The dining pair Ebit and Balaji made every meal a wonderful experience. It's a bit unusual that no survey requests have been made and the only way to compliment staff is when onboard using the ship wifi navigator system so with cabins having to be clear by 8am easy to forget to do so. Having said that these are minot points, overall we can genuinely recommend this cruise andthe crew were a major part of it being so enjoyable.

Arrived safely in crete very hot Ship very clean. food in lattitudes was excellent our waiter malik was fantastic we dined morning and evening and had lunch in the Mediterranean restaurant on deck 11 also excellent. We used surf and turf twice again excellent. For me personally the entertainment was not as good as before. My only gripe is not with the cruise ship but fellow passengers why when you have your own smoking area do you have to vape in no smoking areas hiding the vape in your hand and sneakily smoking it ? And then when asked not to smoke in that no smoking area you have a moan at us non smokers Please have some respect it's our holiday as well

Being blocked from leaving ship accused of stealing 2 towels we paid £5000 for the most expensive cabin on the discovery if I wanted to steal towels I would walk around the ship and take towels from the sunbeds so take my advice and stay away from Tui
