I travelled on my first cruise with Marella Discovery 2. Every part of the experience was easy from travel, transfers to the ship and checking in. We stayed in an inside cabin. I was unsure as we booked late so no other options, however, the room had plenty of storage to unpack, the room was dark in the night promoting a good night sleep :). The staff were incredible. They could not do enough for you. The house keepers were brilliant and friendly. Every staff member at every point of the holiday was friendly and every service was provided with a smile :). The entertainment on board was great the young entertainers are very talented and I enjoyed the movies song night and the Beatles night. The pianist and singer George was friendly and great to watch very talented. The atmosphere on board was great, there is so much to do and something for everyone. We went on The Highlights of the Mediterranean on the 9th July. Each destinations was great and I enjoyed waking up in a new destination daily with something new to explore. There was so much choice for food, including the buffet and additional restaurants including Gallery 47. The food was loverly with changing cuisines and menus daily giving plenty of choice. I can’t wait for my next cruise 🚢 Xx

We joined the ship Discovery 2 on July 9th. We went to our cabin 8552, our cases were outside the cabin as promised. Our cabin crew of 3 Lubaib, Kyaw and Kefut were busy making sure guests got to their cabins. They made sure we were happy and left us to unpack. We then went to find our way around the ship, everywhere we went there were crew members to help. There were several bars and restaurants spread throughout the ship. All were well staffed and without exception every waiter and bar person were keen to serve us. They went out of their way to make sure you were happy. The food on offer was plentiful and several choices it would be difficult not to find something you like to eat. While on board our time on the ship I celebrated my 65th Birthday and our 45th wedding anniversary. On both of our celebration days when we returned to our cabin Lubaib, Kyaw and Kefut had decorated the bed with a card, fairy lights and a towel sculpture. There was plenty of entertainment every day and evening, games, quiz's and competitions to take part or just watch. Bars are scattered all over the ship as were the restaurants you were never far from at least one of them. All were well staffed and all staff were keen to serve or help you. To ALL staff/crew members THANK YOU for a memorable holiday. D and J

We went on our first ever cruise and we were blown away by the quality and service received throughout the whole week. The check in process at the terminal port was quick and easy. We arrived around 1pm and the luggage arrived to the cabin promptly after. We were in an inside cabin which was small due to having a roll away bed due to travelling with 2 year old, however the cabin steward team kindly took the bed away every morning and replaced each evening to allow us more space when getting ready. Efendi, Faisal and Clinton were brilliant, made a real effort to say hello to my 2 year old every day and gave high five’s which made him happy and feel welcome. The chocolates in the evening on our pillows were a nice touch. The showers are not very powerful but that’s my only moan. The food in all the restaurants were brilliant. Lots of variety and the quality of the food was outstanding. The waiters in the waiter service restaurant were brilliant. Particularly 47 and gallery 47. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they always made sure you had a drink, and glasses were topped up with water. The pool wasn’t the biggest and was salt water but it was pleasant enough for how long your round the pool. You could always get a drink from the pool deck bar and they even had staff offering waiter service for drinks round by the pool which was a nice touch. Sun beds could be difficult to get on a sea day but was fine for the rest of the holiday. The waiters did monitor towels being placed on sun loungers, if away for more than 45 minutes, they would remove towels to allow others to use the sun loungers. Entertainment was brilliant across the whole of the cruise. Quizzes during day and evening. Live music and musical shows in the evening and even a silent disco which was great fun if that’s your thing. We upgraded to the premium drinks package. Not necessarily required but we utilised it a lot as we drank a lot of the premium cocktails, gins, whiskeys and really utilised it at the coffee port. Overall had a brilliant holiday with outstanding service. During the whole stay they make you feel special. Would highly recommend and we cannot wait to book the next one. Thankyou Marella, continue to do what your doing 🌟🌟🌟

First cruise - Amazing time !! Inside cabin - extremely clean but did come home with a cough and cold - probably the air con as this cannot be turned off - only downside. Food was lovely with plenty of variety not worth upgrading drinks package. Beds - very comfortable Inside cabin feels claustrophobic but you will get used to it - shame you have no control over the air conditioning- not healthy !! Hairdryer- take your own cable not long enough ! We visited Civettchia in Italy not worth getting off the ship it’s a very busy, dirty place. All in all we had a great week all the cleaners work so hard and are extremely friendly. Didn’t use the pool - too small. Would definitely do another cruise everything is so organised and a great way to see the world.

Read the reviews before we went and was ever so slightly worried at some of the negative ones but as always we wanted to experience it for ourselves and to make our own minds up. We first booked in 2019 for 2020 but obviously that was cancelled so we rebooked for 2021 but that was cancelled too. Left it for a few years before deciding in Jan 2024 to try again. We are so glad we did as we had the most fabulous time ever! Everything was perfect and I can’t praise the bar staff, cleaners, waiters, chefs...indeed everyone enough. They were all brilliant, polite, happy, and helpful. As for the entertainment it was the best we’ve ever seen on any holiday and we both loved every main show (the abba one was exceptional!) and all the smaller acts around the ship (George the singer/pianist in the live room was great!). Our cabin was a good size, and the views magical (see Mount Vesuvius in photo!). Ok, the balcony window and frame could do with a bit of a makeover and newer sunbeds would be good, but they really were the only minor niggles and we’re not dropping a star for that. Must add we were in cabin 8554 and the three guys who cleaned our room and left the towel animal figures every day were all lovely and a real credit to Marella/TUI. Surprised at any negative food reviews as we found it hot, plentiful, and tasty. The main restaurants serving three course meals with waiter service was particularly good. From an organisational point of view everything was excellent including the great excursions whilst all the guests we met were lovely and we had a great time with them. Theres so much to do and so many places to sit, eat, drink, and just watch the world go by. We both wish we'd done one long before and can’t wait for next year (it'll either be a summer cruise to Greece or a winter cruise to West Indies!). If I could offer some simple advice it would be this: • You really don’t need the premium drinks package and we won’t get it next time. • We did four excursions on the bounce and that was possibly too much as it means early starts and lots of coach travelling etc. Think next time we’d look at going on one then having the next day on the ship. That said we had to do three of the excursions as they were places we were desperate to see (Pompeii, Pisa, and Monte Carlo/Monaco. • If you’re claustrophobic, and/or don’t like air-con you’ll need an outside/balcony cabin. Appreciate the extra cost involved but it makes a big difference and the balcony doors left open at night means you won’t need the air con. • Don’t forget your passports if you go on any excursion unless specifically told not to (we did!!!!). • In all fairness I should mention the WI-FI. It’s not cheap but it is essential when you’re at sea. If you can just buy a £40 package (x2), use sparingly, and wait until you’ve docked or you’re near land where you can use 5G again (making sure to contact your phone supplier to make sure you’re set up accordingly!). Totally understand our experience will be different to everyone else’s but we just can’t fault TUI/Marella at all and we’re already looking forward to our next cruise.
