The price in the advertising is cheap, but be careful they are hiding something and do not want to disclose to you until you are onboard. I was told two times when they push me to book saying everything is included, but I was asked to pay almost $200 internet fee when got onboard, otherwise no Wi-Fi no any internet service.

I lost 5 pounds in 8 days on my Alaskan Cruise on the Majestic Princess. How? After eating at the buffet once, I was unable to eat there again as the food quality was terrible, and that was also the opinion of all other travelers I spoke to on board. Also, the expensive wi-fi package was NOT worth it, as the wi-fi service was not even available to the ships own staff at Guest Services. They apologized that the service did not work, but offered NO refund- only a possible small cruise credit if I booked a future cruise- which if I am not going to do if I do not receive a full refund. The "premium deserts" were not better than the buffet options- another uncharge on Princess. There was one great restauraunt that had terrific food- Harmony Chinese, but you had to buy the dining package to even get a reservation. Overall, if you want to be on a totally packed ship, like long wait times for everything, and like to spend good money for "premium services and only get poor value, then Princess Majestic cruises will definitely take your money and leave you feeling like you made several bad choices.

Had a wonderful experience onboard the Majestic. Food was good and the service was excellent. What made the trip for me was the entertainment, particularly the party band. Superb musicianship and a great vibe. My only complaint woupd maybe be the sound mix in some of the venues. Band sound is often quiet and uninspiring. But they do an excellent job despite this. I plenty of activities and shows to enjoy. Ports were good although some stays were a little too short. Would recommend and book again.

MAJESTIC PRINCESS MARCH April 16-May 9, 2024 Auckland to Vancouver through the Pacific, with stops at Tahiti, Honolulu. The ship began at Sydney, with stops at various NZ Ports, we boarded at Auckland for a 3 week sejourn. This voyage primarily a re positioning sea cruise, our style of travel, but remember many others prefer a schedule with regular Port stops. I am a frequent Princess Cruise traveler, 3rd time on Majestic Princess, 1st time since 2019. Majestic Princess was launched in 2017, and is in great shape. Minor refits in 2020 and 2023. When a ship is refurbished, is an important issue, always look at the age, and when it was last refurbished. This ship provides an overall solid business class experience condition, the food and entertainment consistent and of a very good standard. Firm and favorable recommendation to anyone wanting a good quality, big ship cruise experience. No feel of overcrowding, Majestic was 90% full about 3,600 My critique, is based on many cruises, across 5 cruise line operators, and any criticism is aimed only at seeking improvement. We are conservative cruisers, the ship itself is our primary destination. Embarkation Ship boarded at Auckland. With Shirls hip operation, wheelchair assistance required (to avoid standing in que). The ship began at Sydney, so only about 500 plus passengers too board. No issues. THE SHIP IN GENERAL The Majestic Princess is a large ship, 143,000 tons, 18 decks. Some people find the size of the ship a little overwhelming. We can understand that but we like the larger ships with more people and facilities and choices on board. Although there were approximately 3600 passengers on board, it did not feel crowded. So many choices, which are the great delight of cruising, one does as little or as much to do as you like. Some passengers take that for granted, mumbles here and there, but we value the great choices available! I often strolled through the ship at 6.30am in the morning, hardly a person to be seen! The late-night owls are few! And in the late-night disco lounge tec. Few kids aboard, great! Used the Gym fitness machines each day, excellent facility, but background music is too loud. There is no need for such sound, if you want to listen to music or television etc., a range of personal devices are available. Silence is Golden, great views from the Gym, why a heavy sound-track. This comment applies to all 19 Princess Cruise ships, stop or lower music in Gym, it is not required. Pools and spa facilities as you expect, available, and nice, pools can be cluttered during the day. The Adults only Hollywood Conservatory is a with great views and seating options, and being a covered pool, no weather problems. Library facilities were disappointing, few books in cabinet, and no librarian We personally miss the huge observation lounge facility on earlier class ships (Sky walker lounge). Also, the limited outside walk around the ship facility for the walkers, it is there but this time 6.5 times area around equals 1 mile and the area is contained. The older ships the outside walk way around the ship was covered; now it is a combination and not so straightforward Still pleasant, a covered table tennis area and mini golf high up on the top floor also. The other bars and public seating areas of the Majestic Princess were excellent, roomy, and stylish. Huge Princess theatre and large Vista Lounge the 2 largest facilities. Spot entertainment e.g. pianist, vocalist, violin trio etc. were visible and pleasant. Listening to these spot artists, can make a cruise very pleasant. This trip the spot entertainment mainly several Pianists and Violin combos, were excellent. I attended a Classic music show by a duo from Ukraine Sandra Maria Duo, Masterpiece Collection from Bach to Debussy, wonderful experience, about 200 listening, like a private recital. Pianist Marius Baietica was also excellent. I travel to enjoy these moments, and the excellent production shows and entertainers, Princess continues to excel. The enrichment speakers were also sound, one a retired Diplomat with experience in Arab countries, doing presentations with an historical theme on Arab states, and those presenting on environment issues, Whaling, French Polynesian experiences etc. were also interesting. Frans Schneider delivered a few presentations, one The Jet Age: A Miracle, a Tragedy, and a Mystery. This was of specific interest. In this talk, Franz relates the huge changes in aviation when jetliners replaced propeller planes. After describing the development of the early jets by Boeing and Douglas, he looked at the emergence of a worthy competitor— Airbus, with its "fly by wire" technology. Franz also examines three specific incidents: the miracle of US Air flight 1549 landing on the Hudson River; the tragic loss several months later of Air France flight 447 between Rio and Paris; and the mysterious disappearance of Malaysian flight 370. His talk on Mutiny on the Bounty also fascinating. The shopping available on the ship is one of the biggest at sea 1000 sq. feet, mostly high end. Watch, perfume etc. shops. Another variety style shop would be useful, not convinced, about diamond and jewelry shops, obviously enough people are buying product to keep open. Princess produces a daily Princess Events list and timings, available hard copy and on line, a key to planning your day. Floor shows in the evening, and specifically the Princess Theatre Dance Company and singers were excellent. They did 4 presentations, equal to Broadway show standard, and the standard of these productions continue to improve and creativity very much in vogue. Excellent recording stars on each night (Country, Broadway, Opera, comedians, and magicians, standard excellent. Overall, the formal and stage entertainment was of good quality, all part of your travel package. Unusually for me I enjoyed the Comedians, must be the aging process, all 3 were interesting and capable of holding the audience for 45 minutes. The Central Plaza was a focus for the ballroom dancers, there were a good number on this trip, a delight to watch. I think several couples (high quality) were there to stimulate others, Princess probably paying their way, so they could provide wonderful viewing, and get the dance floor going, Solid range of late release movies shown on upper deck, available in room, or at advertised locations. Good work here Princess, my wife watched more than a few while reclining in the cabin. The more movies the better, it is an ageless form of entertainment, and Princess Cruise deserves a bow for their up-to-date movie selection, and no cost. Some other cruise lines charge for movies in the room, good on you Princess! Excellent range of cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, excellent range of choices every day, including the usual bingo, table tennis, bridge games. Art promotions were very visual. Soft freeze cone ice-cream available at no cost throughout the day, a nice treat, but real ice-cream limited on the voyage The weather conditions throughout were very good and no rough days at all, so the luck ran our way. However motion sickness can be an issue, in the Pacific and Australian cruise sphere, and any cruise if you are susceptible, prepare in advance. Dining Traditional 1st or second sitting evening dining room sitting versus Anytime dining are great options. We now prefer traditional dining at a set time, in our case 5pm in the Symphony dining room. This was excellent waiter style service, starting with soup, main course, and dessert choices. Peter our waiter was excellent. Majestic Princess is the only Princess chip with an Asian Noodle bar, producing good soups, my wife Shirl loved this. We mixed breakfast venues. Dining formal on some days, buffet the next, wonderful choices. Breakfast always a thrill. Specialty restaurants abound for a fee e.g. The Crown Grill (steak) restaurant, The Catch by Rudi, and the Cantonese Harmony restaurant all with A$ surcharge of $45 per person. The real issue is whether a specialist restaurant at $90 per couple prior to dining commencing is good value? In my view once only, plenty of choice for free elsewhere. We dined at The Catch by Rudi, I took a lovely NZ Riesling ($20 USA corkage fee) and we went through the menu. Great service, presentation, and choice. The Pizza restaurant ($8 cover charge pp) was popular, we did not use The 24-Hour International Café included in the cruise fee was a real bonus. Great informal, pick your choice, from a salad to a cake, great alternative to the full meal service which abounds on the ship. The buffet at Market Place was good value, everything seemed fresh, lots of choice and we thought the food tasted fine. Open most hours was great. Service was good, and their breakfast buffet top class. You read some sharp comments about the cruise buffets; I think they offer excellent value, wide choice, and sound presentation. You must be a very fussy eater, if you complain about sub-standard Princess cruise buffets. Avoid peak times if you can, that’s just common sense. Located high up in the ship with great views A nice touch each afternoon was the English afternoon tea served by waiters in white gloves 3.30-4.30pm, in one of the main dining rooms. ROOM SERVICE Recently cut back and fee based. Did not use, but breakfast ordering still available at no cost. OUR CABIN We had an interior Cabin, on the 14th floor. Pleasant. We made the decision not to have a balcony cabin, on cost differential and because with many sea days, it was the right decision for us. If in Europe with Ports most days, a balcony makes sense, but for a long voyage with many sea days, you just do not use it, the wind factor and speed of ship affecting usage. The design of the cabin made good use of large mirrors to enhance the feeling of light and maximize space. The open space wardrobes without doors provided plenty of hanging and excellent storage space for our requirements. Our main cases fitted side by side quite comfortably. Bedside lights have dimmer switches. Soaps and towels were changed twice a day. Bathroom shower was pressure excellent. Air conditioning was excellent. There is a safe in every room and our cabin had a fridge. The Television was a good size. No noise transference issues on this trip, you need luck with who are your neighbors ‘this time quiet. If you wish to drink bottled wines in your cabin Princess seem to have no problems with you purchasing wines or champagne and bringing them on board at embarkation (Small print says 2 bottles). You can take these wines into the dining room but you will be charged an USD20 corkage fee if you take them into the dining rooms PORTS OF CALL Big ships often mean you are located long distances from City. Ships are coy re detail on Port facilities, and access to City location. They want you to utilize on each occasion the formal ship tours, which are well organized, but costly. Independent travelers are tolerated, but they limit information as a means of keeping the formal tour numbers up. The internet is surprisingly limited re detailed information on Ports of Call (often very dated too), and guide books like Lonely Plant, virtually ignore it.  Papeete Tahiti. Ship close to the Township. 1k walk to Market Centre. Pleasant  Moorea Beautiful  Honolulu Hawaii. Close to facilities, nice cosmopolitan city.  Vancouver: Great Port and lovely city. We spent a week here on disembarkation, Stanley Park, Granville Island, Suspension bridge, sea planes, sea wall walk (8K) lovely. Disembarkation Easy. Author Alec Waugh alwaugh@xtra.co.nz

Don’t waste your money. Food is lackluster. If you buy the premier package there are always excuses as to why you are being charged or why your reserved seating is not available. Small ship. Their tag line should be “A good time to be had by some” because there is no inclusiveness.
