Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I would like to say , WOW what a wonderful cruise I had with Emerald Dawn, from the moment I walked on board I had excellent service , I was worried at first as I had never travelled solo, But I met lovely people with combined with excellent staff of the Emerald Dawn who made my trip amazing, the food was great , the wine superb , my room service beautifully , the tours were excellent, and the entertainment was fantastic, I had never laughed so much, I would highly recommend Emerald Dawn I did Amsterdam to Budapest and I will use Emerald cruises again.

I'm currently on an Emerald Dawn cruise, sailing from Amsterdam to Budapest. I was subjected to bullying and harassment from the "entertainment director", Noel, who appeared to think that directing jokes at me and publicly humiliating me was funny. He even performed a cabaret where one of the songs he sang was "The Lady is a Tramp", calling all ladies on board tramps, but saying it was just a joke. I was sitting a long way from him and had said nothing, but he then turned to me and said "although some ladies turn into tramps after a few drinks, isn't that right Liesel?". I still said nothing, and then he directed another shot at me, at which point I retaliated and told him to "f off" - his response was to tell me to put it in writing. When I walked out of his show with a few others shortly afterwards, there were more comments from him. Noel's actions also caused an argument between my husband and I and the cruise director offered me another (more expensive) room until that settled. I took Noel's advice and lodged a written complaint with the company. Their response was to try to shut me up with flowers, chocolates and a bottle of prosecco, none of which I touched. They also told me to move back to my original room with my husband. Apparently Noel's shows were always like that and no one had ever complained and 5 other passengers that they spoke to (out of about 140 with an average age of 70) thought his public humiliation of me was acceptable. What sort of company condones that sort of behavior? It's disgusting and I wouldn't recommend using them to anyone.

Definitely no, our cabin pretentiously named Grand Balcony Suite was small, the food was correct but never subtle except the delicious and various breads for breakfast and the excellent soups .. teatime was from 4 to 4.30pm (!) with very basic sandwiches and pieces of cakes. The excursions were well organised and interesting but guests had to climb on the top of the boat, pass over the next one and descend to reach the pier, 5 times during our 7days cruise ( twice in Amsterdam) On our Nile cruise, we could go through the lobby of the next vessel straight out ... Just be aware of these points before booking.

Overall, while there were a number of positives and we met some lovely people on the boat, our River Cruise down the Rhine didn't meet up the expectations of a 'luxury cruise'. Positives: A lovely boat and well appointed rooms, very friendly and accommodating staff, and the food was generally very good. Negatives: the dining room was crowded and noisy and with the buffet style breakfasts and self-service for salads and desserts at lunch times it was most days a frenetic frenzy akin to 'feeding time at the zoo', The excursions and guides were a mixed-bag - interesting on some days and quite frankly very boring on others. There were long periods of travel of areas where we passed through where we received no information at all, other than a pamphlet in the room, which could have made the journey more interesting. The boat moored number of occasions in some very industrial areas with one day at what was announced as being voted "the most ugliest town in Germany". The excursion at the same place the most boring, Not exactly what is portrayed on the brochures and surely you wonder there must have been other places to stay and visit. All an all we felt underwhelmed by this cruise which we were really looking forward to and others had spoken positively about.

We had a group of 8 people and every one of us had the best time. The staff were amazing. they were so attentive and worked so hard to keep us all well feed, drinks in our hand and entertained. All the ports we visited were amazing and the information was always available regarding arrivals, departures and daily schedules.
