Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely wonderful. We had an 80 year old down to 8 years old. Our whole family would do it again. Can’t say enough about the service. Always something going on for everyone.

We took our 3 year old on a cruise to Alaska and were disappointed. The boarding process was poorly organized with a lot of confusion among the staff for Disney Cruise Lines on where we had to go and in what order. It made for a long boarding process with a hot, tired and grumpy 3 year old. Once you actually get on the ship you have to sit through a ship orientation with DCL staff person that is trying to be funny to a group of people that just went through a long boarding process. As a result, her presentation is longer than it needs to be. Once we got to our room things did improve. Our room was well apportioned with a nice balcony and view. The bed was comfortable and the sitting area was spacious. The on demand Disney movies were a nice addition. The staff on the ship work very hard at providing excellent service. Unfortunately it comes across as super intrusive. It is hard to relax when you have staff constantly offering you “help” that no reasonable person should need. I like a little autonomy and quiet time on vacation. You will not get that here. Their efforts to pamper you, to me, came across as being treated like a child. I was coming out of a bathroom on a lower deck, while my wife and son were napping, to have a young DCL employee tell me to “wash your hands” in some cutesy, Mary Poppins voice. It’s just grating as they constantly flitter about you explaining things that need no explanation, directing you where to go and what to do unnecessarily and enforcing rules that seem arbitrary. An example is not allowing toys in the pool for little kids, they sold water toys in the gift shop. The activities provided for kids and adults were rather lame. Especially considering the price we paid for the week. We took our son to two arts and crafts sessions designed for young children to discover that they amounted to little more than coloring Disney coloring book pages ran off a copy machine. After that we decided to skip it. Our son really enjoyed the kids club, the games the kids played together and the slide in Andy’s room seemed like a lot of fun for him. While he was in the kids club we found that, when we were not playing with or entertaining him, there was little for us to do outside of eat or drink or attend a drawing class given by a young woman who wasn’t much of an artist. Again, disappointing given the price we paid for this. The pools were incredibly small at every level- from kids to adults. The shows they had on a nightly basis in the Walt Disney theater were really good and worth attending. I heard some people describe the shows as Broadway level entertainment. I wouldn’t go that far, I would describe them as the type of show you would find off Broadway or off the Las Vegas strip, good but not great. The movies provided in the Buena Vista theater on a daily basis were fun. The movies provided outdoors on the upper deck on the funnel vision are a nice option. We enjoyed some hot chocolate and snacks while watching Hocus Pocus one night. The food was middling. It is hard to make food for so many people anything besides somewhat institutional. It reminded me a little of the DFAC at Fort Leonard Wood when I was in BCT. The food was better than that but not a lot. The grab and go food was bland and unappetizing. The food in the Cabanas cafe was good. The dining staff were great, they were friendly and accommodating. Overall, I found this to be not worth the money and not that enjoyable. There were things I enjoyed but would have rather spent a week on land in Alaska really taking in everything Alaska had to offer. I would recommend anyone reading my review take it with a grain of salt as I determined that the cruise experience really isn’t for me.

On the first full day of our cruise to HAWAII, my wife had a medical emergency. It finally took the ship to turn around and meet a Coast Guard helicopter, that took her to a hospital in Portland, Ore. The Disney Medical staff reacted immediately to the problem and tried to stop my wife from hemorrhaging. When they say she needed more care, they notified the Captain, who turned the ship around, in order top meet the helicopter. I had to stay on the ship until Hawaii. During that time Guest Services were so attentive and helped me with any and all details, so that I could fly to Portland without a lot of changes and cancellations still to be done. Thank you, Disney.

This cruise is perfect for young couples traveling with young children. Let e be clear, the children's program onboard this ship is second to none. Disney has dedicated nearly an entire floor for its children's program. This is free babysitting, they even provide meals to the children. The crew members are actively playing with the children to ensure that every child is made to feel special. Meanwhile, mom and dad can explore the ship with complete peace of mind. The atmosphere is casual and you get the impression that Disney has spared no expense. Broadway caliber shows and perfectly appropriate dining options. My favorite thing about disney cruises is their transparent pricing and they do not try to nickel and dime you all day every day. No pressure and no upsales. Just book and enjoy.
