We love cruising with P&O, they seem to have our taste off pat as if the cruise were for us alone. But beware when things go wrong. For the second cruise in succession, there was a long delay disembarking at Southampton. Something wrong with the gang planks and another with the cranes or such else. Neither of them were the fault of P&O but we, the passengers, were certainly made out by the crew to be the villains of the piece. We were all huddled into designated areas whilst the problems were sorted out. It was stifflingly hot and the staff just kept on blaming the passengers for delays, hold-ups and whatever else they could think of and I really resent this. It was our fault there were queues, it was our fault the system was not coping, all expounded by a few bumptious tub-thumpers in uniform. Not the best end to an otherwise lovely holiday.

Although this was a nice ship, clean and good food. No complaints about cabin steward, bar staff or waiting staff. However I did find the entertainment staff extremely rude. Also our cabin was on deck 5 mid ship and when taking on water, usually at night it was very noisy. Once being done in the early hours, thus waking us up and when we ask them to stop , we were told that it wasn’t possible ant offered us to move cabin for one night. This disturb night spoilt my day in New Orleans as I was very tired. We had to move cabins on another occasion and all P&O did was offer us a meal in one of the restaurants, not much in compensation as we already had good food which. Make sure you check your bar charges as I was over charged £15 and my cousin £10. On arrival home P&O didn’t want to know. Rubbish customer service! Would I travel with them again NO.

The boarding process was faultless; 25 minutes from joining the queue we were in the lounge. Baggage delivery was around 90 minutes later. The ship was well presented and our cabin attendant was very helpful, attending to all of our requests with a smile. We had elected for an sea view cabin, since it was a November cruise and the North Sea is unpredictable at that time of year. The bars were well furnished, with comfortable seating and attentive service. Pre-theatre drinks or post show nightcaps were good in all of the bars we used. We chose freedom dining and had different table companions for each of the 7 nights of the cruise. The food was excellent, with portion size just right. The ports of call were Rotterdam (overnight), Bruges and Le Havre. We booked the ship's excursions for the latter two, doing the Flanders war cemeteries and Menin Gate from Bruges and the British D-Day landing beaches in Normandy from Le Havre. Both were fairly priced and great value with the guides provided. All in all, an excellent holiday on a ship we would happily sail on again.

Booked a 12 day cruise to Norway to see the fjords etc on P&O. On the itinerary was Andalsnes a 'beloved destination of not only many Norwegians, but also tourists from all over the world due to the amazing scenery'. We chose this itinerary especially because it called in here and it was the on the day of my husbands special birthday. We had booked a spectacular trip to make this a very special day. Six days before sailing we were told this stop had been cancelled - no explanation or apology was given. Just accept it & shut up. I contacted the company we booked with who told us they were given an explanation from P&O that the substitute Trondheim offered a better shore experience. Who wants to walk around the streets of a busy city port when you have booked to experiences the magnificent scenery of the fjords? Unbelievable! This was my first experience of P&O (the company) but the fact that they don't feel they need to inform you of choices they make to change your holiday destinations shows they have no respect for their clients. If the reason had been due to unforeseen circumstance, (which is in the small print) and we had been informed of that, then that would have been totally acceptable. I didn't book a 'magical mystery tour' so will never book with them again. I can't review the ship as I haven't had that experience yet. Spoilt expectations of this trip.
