Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Short 3 night trip to celebrate friends birthday (4 of us). 24hrs prior to our trip we received an email stating that they are experiencing an outbreak of gastroenteritis - so boarding will be 2/3hrs later due to them doing a 'deep clean'. When we arrived and after lots of waiting - I have to say the staff were really friendly during boarding. We finally sailed around 6.pm - everyone rushed to the buffet so queuing was ridiculous! The MAJOR problem they have on this (and the other P&O Ship that sailed the same day - Ventura - BBC News!) is the hygiene and cleaning. They really do need to change their cleaning contractor or employee additional staff! The toilets, if working!, were disgusting and we had only just set sail! Toilets were out of order, hand dryers not working and hand towels not replaced! Disabled toilet (for one of our friends) was out of order before we even left the Port! - Pics below! On a positive the food in the restaurant was lovely - we paid extra for the al la carte which was worth it. Drinks are VERY expensive and there is no option for a drinks package (glass of wine £10), you can ONLY purchase drinks (soft or alcholic) from the Bar! No shop to purchase or drinks to take back to your cabin and not allowed to bring anything back to your room if purchase when you disembark. I do think with a so many chooses out there for Cruise's they need to 'up their game' and I would certainly not do a short trip with P&O again as it was too much hassle for such a short time, also getting ill which two of us did!

first solo trip and first on P&O Heard so much about this ship and she is lovely cabins really nice. Pretty ship not too big. However soooo disappointed, was in Alexandria fixed dinner seating and the food was just awful main course no vegetables, just awful green beans where is VARIETY, chicken was dry and the fish. People on my table said the meat was a bit weird too. Dessets were tasteless and too sweet. This carried on till the last night when the food was good. Also the night they paraded in the chefs and we all (like being at school) had to cheer how wonderful the food was. Sorry no, service was excellent, bit rushed as they had another sitting to do so no lingering at table!! I was amazed that they have to but a casino on board???? and do bingo?????? Really is this what we are ALL supposed to be doing??? Entertainment was all just singing and dancing no lectures or short plays or anything which would entice the mind. Sorry this is not the cruise for me will not do this ship again and she is so lovely but until they sort out what type of market they are appealing to and stop trying to claw back money all the time. i.e pub prices for wines and cappucinos `i mean i thought it was tax free?? To top it all on the seating (fixed). I was not put on a singles table but with married couples so I could not buddy up with someone for the tours etc. I got on the wrong bus on a tour and was very upset noon had checked that i was supposed to be on that bus all to busy rushing it was really very upsetting. In addition there was no free time on any of the tours I went on to sit have a coffee watch the world go by and interact with the locals, oh nooooo you had to go on your own on a shuttle bus for that which was not good for me as `i was on my own and did not know the city (althought they dump a city map in your hand great if you speak the language) Still Sea was nice to look at bit rough (bay of Biscay) cabin nice But not for me

This was out first time on Aurora and it was great! Usually would travel on much larger ships but wanted to try an adult only more personal ship. The mini cruise does seem to attract a mixed range of people but it still felt like the P&O I expected and am used to. Seamless check in - we were onboard and at the bar within about 20 mins from arriving at the terminal. But that is standard for P&O in my experience. Champions Bar ( 🌟Samson in particular) was brilliant and made us feel welcome - it was the perfect bar to chat, there was a great singer in the evenings and my husband could even watch the football. Anderson’s was a beautiful bar and our ideal location for a pre-dinner glass of champagne. The Lido Grill serves the perfect pizza, hotdogs and burgers in the afternoons which is exactly what we needed after our off ship adventures. Breakfast in Horizon buffet has a good range of options but gets very busy towards the end of service so recommend an early start. We were onboard for our anniversary and decided to eat in Sindu. The service was outstanding and the food was lovely. The other evenings we ate in The Medina restaurant and were greeted every evening by a lovely lady called Jay. The food and service was good. On the formal evening we decided to try The Crows Nest bar, we were disappointed to find that there were people not adhering to the dress code allowed to be in there but it was a lovely place to relax. The ship is looking a little tired in places but our cabin was spotless and everything you could need is onboard. We enjoyed our trip and have already booked another short trip in May. 8 weeks and counting …

Overall we have had a decent trip but it felt more like a stag and he do ferry trip to Rotterdam. I can’t understand why they go to watch a show then chat really loud to each other, why not stay in a bar? Most of the staff are great but some can get tunnel vision as you wait to be served, on the odd occasion it took them 20 minutes to serve you. We only used Champions once due to bar flys blocking the bar. Being our first cruise we missed out on quite a lot due to not being told what we were entitled to . We were unable to get in any of the restaurants except Horizon and Alexandria and even then we didn’t know we could use Alexandria every night. Food was decent except for the last night when everything was cold, the Yorkshire puddings didn’t even seem to have been near an oven. We had a balcony room C196 which was really noisy at night due to some sort of generator constantly humming. I wouldn’t want this room again even if it was free. The room fixtures and bathroom are in good condition but very dated and reminded us of our caravan from 20 years ago . The ship in general is gorgeous Andersons bar was really really nice. We parked our car with CPS and everything was really straightforward. I’m not sure if I would cruise again but my wife definitely would.
