Just finished a 1 week round trip to/from Amsterdam on the AmaSerena. The cruise was first class from start to finish. Kudos to all the staff who were absolutely warm, welcoming and professional. Even though we selected our excursions in advance, we had the opportunity to make changes while on board. Sometimes this was due to the weather or because our feet were tired from the previous day. We appreciated the flexibility. We loved the small plates during meals. This allows you to really sample a variety of different foods. And the food - wow. The chefs really put creative passion into the meals. Everything tasted great and was presented beautifully. The variety of wine served was awesome. The beer that was complimentary was Bitburger. I would have loved another complimentary option, perhaps something authentic Dutch since we were sailing in the Netherlands (but not Heineken as we can get that in the States). We were in a BB suite with the French balcony and a full balcony with chairs/table. Due to the cloudy and cool weather we couldn't sit out much, but we appreciated the amount of light these full length glass panels let in. The bathroom can be a bit cramped. The shower, with overhead and hand-held nozzles had great water pressure and temperature control, but it was easy to bump your elbows into the wall. My only recommendation - since the daily excursions are with independent tour guides - make sure you have enough 1 or 2 Euro coins with you for tips. We were able to exchange some Euro bills for coins on the ship for this purpose, but the main desk later ran out of coins. Many shops in the Netherlands/Belgium seem to prefer cashless transactions so it wasn't necessary to have cash on hand (except for tips to tour guides). Looking forward to our next adventure with AmaWaterways.…

We had a lovely cruise. We started on the Amamora but due to high water levels we had to leave our boat and transfer to the Amaserena. The latter was slightly older. We preferred the staterooms in the Amamora. The staff on both boats were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble. Everything is very well organised including the boat switching! The food presentation was superb tho some dishes tasted a little bland. Overall I would recommend Ama Waterways.…

My husband and I have recently returned from the AmaWaterWay Rhine River cruise in mid-June, and it could not have been better! The ship was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Our stateroom had a balcony with 2 chairs that was perfect for cruising! We were so grateful for excellent service by the ship’s staff, along with their professional, cheerful attitudes and willingness to help. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise, meeting new friends, and learning so much about the Rhine and surrounding areas! We definitely recommend this cruise, and we plan to plan another River cruise width AmaWaterWays soon!…

We took the AMA tulip time tour in Netherlands/Belgium. This was our first cruise. We had very much anticipated this. (It had been delayed by Covid). Maybe we are just not cruise people. The crew was very nice and attentive. We’d heard great things about the food, but it struck us as trying too hard to be high-end continental. It was good, but not ordinary was high end food and we wondered where were the local dishes—moules frites, stampot, local beers, Indonesian rice dishes (yes, that’s a thing in the Netherlands—former Dutch East Indies). The chef’s table, however, was excellent. Once aboard we were disappointed to know that there were 2 large groups on the voyage, a group tour (which had its own onboard lectures that others were not invited to) and Backroads bicycles. We felt like we were add on outsiders. We also wished we spent more time on excursions, and less on cocktail hours. Some of the excursions were very good. Kuekenhof is not to be missed. We enjoyed Bruges and the windmills, the bike excursions. We were very disappointed in the Delft “tour” which basically amounted to dropping everyone at the Delft pottery factory. We ended up going back to Delft—home of Vermeer—on our own and spending a whole day in the town—much to see in this delightful town. We also did the two day pre-cruise tour. We would not do that again. The hotel was nice enough, but very corporate. We could have stayed as a much more charming place and covered as much or more touring ground on our own.…
