Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Did a cruise on the Mekong in December. Left from Siem Reap to My To. Had an absolutely great time. The ship is very well kept up. Very clean and tidy ,easy to get around. As everywhere in Cambodia and Vietnam the staff were fantastic. They were very accommodating in every way. The cruise director Tung was everywhere making sure all was well. Zsuannza took care of everything from accommodations to the food and entertainment in a very professional manner. The bar staff and dining room staff were as good as it gets. We will certainly travel with ama again.

This was a bucket list trip!!! We LOVED it!! The whole trip with land including Bangkok was fabulous, 18 days. The hotels were all incredible and the food was great. We were even upgraded to a suite at the Peninsula Hotel in Bangkok! INCREDIBLE!!! The weather was very hot in April but worth it as everyone we met on this particular trip were wonderful. Less hot weather is in October thru December. The staff and guides were over the top!! Highly recommend.

This was our first river cruise which we booked prior to the Covid pandemic. We were travelling with friends who had previously cruised twice with AmaWaterways. Our holiday was deferred twice however AmaWaterways made every effort to ensure that our booking was transferred successfully. We cannot praise everyone involved in our holiday enough. We were met at the airport in Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon and thereafter everything was organised meticulously by our cruise manger Tung. The hotel in HCMC was wonderful as were the subsequent Sofitel hotels in Siem Reap and Ha Noi. Our tour guides for the "blue family" were all well informed, amusing and friendly, Thomas in South Vietnam, Fin in Cambodia and Lily in North Vietnam. The AmaDara is really comfortable and decorated in colonial style - loved our stateroom. All of the staff on board were most attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was excellent and there was plenty of drink including wine and local beers. We have cruised before but not on a river and found it fascinating to see life on the riverside from our balcony. All of the trips were included and we made sure that we went on all of the those we could. We enjoyed them all immensely although we were aware that some were going to be harrowing at times due to the turbulent histories of Vietnam and Cambodia. Balancing this were the spectacular temples and city tours but one of the most enduring memories will be of how kind and humble all of the people of these two countries are. This was a wonderful and memorable holiday and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this trip. Hopefully we will be cruising with AmaWaterways again in the future. Thanks.

We've done (and reviewed on here) river cruises before. This was our first river cruise in Asia from Cambodia to Vietnam. It took place in 2019 before the dreaded Covid. It's the first chance I've had to review it having been locked out of my TripAdvisor account and only just managed to get back in! We had the most wonderful time. The ship was excellent, the staff were excellent. There was only one extremely rude Brit (who after his drunk confrontation I managed to avoid!) The places we visited were amazing. We met some wonderful people who we're still in touch with (indeed went on another cruise with!) The food was first class, and as others have correctly said.. they treat you as if you were their family members.. A wonderful, memorable experience!

I am writing this from Hanoi in the last 3 days of our trip - we did the Charms of the Mekong from Saigon (My Tho) to Cambodia 7 days cruise plus the pre and post travel days in Saigon and Hanoi. I cannot recommend AmaWaterways personnel highly enough, including our Cruise Manager Mr. Thoai for showing us the wonders of this part of Asia while keeping us safe and covered in hand sanitizer. We did not notice any uptick in concern of the local citizens until we got to Siem Reap on March 9th. There had just been a report of the Covid-19 coronavirus case in a Japanese businessman who had a store in Siem Reap and the Cambodia Prime Minister responded immediately with school closings and taking extra precautions. Then we got to Hanoi, where a flight on March 2 had brought a local resident back from Europe (where she had caught the virus).....so now Hanoi citizens have put themselves on high alert, are staying home from businesses, and are very wary of western foreigners - as that is how the virus is now coming into Vietnam. We have been wearing our face masks the last few days....to make the Hanoi citizens feel comfortable having us in their city. Everyone on our trip feels fine. Because of the Hanoi concerns there were many alternations in the planned tour visits and Mr. Thoai of AmaWaterways and guide Don did a fabulous job arranging for alternative visits. We went to Ninh Binh instead of Ha Long Bay and I could not have been more thrilled with that experience, sampan ride through caves and extraordinary scenery. Ha Long bay had been closed by the local authorities due to the virus. We also visited the Women’s Museum, which was not on our original itinerary, an absolutely beautiful museum with very interesting exhibits. I would highly recommend the AmaWaterway Mekong cruises on the AmaDara! I am so glad I made the trip.
