Nothing short of superb. The museum has an amazing collection of Greek and Roman artifacts, and the section on Roman items found in what is now the Netherlands is fascinating and informative. Our visit started with the temple from Egypt sitting in the lobby(yes, that's right) which comes with its own light and sound show.
If you are in Leiden, definitely go. And if you're visiting Amsterdam, it's just a short train ride away. This is a thoughtful and accessible museum; a real gem.

Worth a visit, even if you don't go inside. A beautiful example of a traditional Dutch mill, right near the centre of the busy town.

I would not designate the name of this landmark as "The Rhine", but "The Rhine and the canals of Leiden". The Rhine itself became shallow in Leiden already in the Middle Ages, which is why the city began to give way in competition to Amsterdam and Antwerp. The Rhine in Leiden splits into the Old (Oude Rhine) and the New (Nieuwe) Rhine. Then it converges in the area of De Burcht Castle. Then he disappears on the map altogether! Instead, the Galgewater canal appears, after which the Old Rhine reappears outside the center. However, in my humble opinion, Leiden is most beautiful by the Rapenburg Canal, and not by the banks of the Rhine. Many residents of the city consider it the most beautiful in Holland. Of course, you can argue with this.

Obviously not as interesting in winter as it will be in other seasons, but still worth a visit. It has both inside and outside parts.

Interesting museum, definitly the best one i saw whilst in Leiden.

A mix of various dinousour skeletons (including t rex and a mammout) and staffed animals mainly plus much more...

I think that just for these, the euro 16 entrance fee is worthed.

It is located by the medical school, 5 minute walk from the train station

What a great museum. The virtual intro to the museum is an absolute must. Great range of exhibits, with a variety of interactive exhibits.

Visting the Leiden Saturday Market in the old city center is certainly the best introduction to Leiden. Along the canals between the City Hall and the old Borough, you will not just find all fresh produce and other goods you may fancy at budget prices but also experience the authentic Leiden: the people meeting their friends in the abundant cafés, bars, and restaurants that border the market area, the old buildings, churches, museums and shops in the neighborhood. If you didn't walk the walk and bought some freshly baked fish of flowers, you can't say you have really seen Leiden.

This is an interesting art and history museum which frequently has great temporary exhibitions. The building itself is fascinating, with different sections built in different eras, giving it the feel of multiple museums in one. The art on display also comes from different eras. We enjoyed seeing Rembrandt's earliest paintings, reunited here temporarily.

Museum Pass (Museumkaart) holders must have their passes scanned at the front desk and so will need to queue with everyone else if it is busy (unlike in some other museums, where you can scan your pass yourself and walk in).

Such a nice little museum! And the guide was an actual expert on the era, so she was fascinating. Don't expect it to be huge, because it is tiny! But very rich despite its size. The guide and caretakers clearly care a lot about the place and the time. We went on Thanksgiving day, and it turns out !!

Very educational and fun. Great learning adventure for kids and adults. In the expensive entree fee range though with adults and children paying the same rather high entree fee.

This is an amazing way to see the city... by looking for poems on the walls... great city to tour anyway, and this just helps.
