- GreteSmilesVienna, Austria97 contributionsThe beautiful area is made up by three lakes connected to each other: Valgejärv (White lake), Sinijärv (Blue lake) and Rohejärv (Green lake). The lakes have an unique bluish-green color and are amazingly transparent (because of the large springs that also make the water super cold). Sinijärv is actually even the most transparent lake of Estonia. The Valgejärv is kind of the only swimming place in the area and therefore also popular in summer. But there are grilling places and walking tracks around the lakes (ca 6km) and also other paths that lead to further away and are in total like 20km. There's signs everywhere so you won't get lost. But most likely you'll still be walking there alone or together with couple of fishmen. Exhibitions when we were there described the careers of locally-born world's strongest man and of an opera singer. As well as the usual local exhibits there was an interesting exhibition about a successful collective farm and those who worked on it as well as a number of family histories detailing the fates of deportees to Siberia in 1941.
