Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The beach is black sand beach, with good and big area to seat. On our arrival the beach was closed bu we allowed to explore the area. It’s clean but small area to swim but the plus poin is, it has 2 swimming pool for adult and kids

We took a ride over here to check it out and it was a beautiful spot. More scenic than beachy. You can stop for a while and get a drink or a snack or jump in the crystal clear water.

We came when it’s rained. But we got the place to ourselve. The area quite small to walk around, eventhough the place itself is big. You see the ocean in front side and Gamalama mountain on the other side

Dodola island is a very nice place for a picnic day trip. Not much for food to pick from besides popmie noodles. And over night accommodations are slim. So pack a lunch for your visit. If you are staying overnight, you may want to bring your own bedding. Or sleep out on a palapa for the night. But it is truly a beautiful island. We walked and swam the day away. Even saw a black tipped shark in the shallows while walking in the water. They are building more overnight cabins, so they would be a good option when done.

Had a great time here. The island is pretty small, and not used to tourists. There are no places to stay, so you'll have to camp, or know someone who can offer you a room. But be warned, the place is very underdeveloped, with no fresh water and basic toilets.
If you need the comforts of civilisation, then it is advisable to get a boat from Ternate in the morning, to take you to the more secluded beaches. You can probably secure a chartered boat for less than 100,000 IRL.

A wonderful beach town for families! We stayed here summer of 2019 and it is a gem. We enjoyed walking to the beach from our apartment with our young son and spending the day.

Hope to find a cute beach, with scenic view, yet no further information on it and we must find by myself.

Great day dive with Rizal and the Dodoku crew: up to date gear, detailed knowledge of diving sites combined with friendliness. Nukila dive site wreck diving (bus and motorbikes included) was good fun. I just had one day, but will surely be back for 2/3 days dive in Tidore and the Dugond point at Hiri. No doubt the right choice.

We have just returned from and 11 day trip of Morotai, Halmahera, Ternate and Tidore and our experience with this company was simply fabulous.

Fatmawaty organised everything according to our wishes. On top of that, when our luggage went missing in Manado and failed to show up in Morotai as promised by Silk Air, she was the the one tracking it down and making sure it was waiting for us a few days later in our room in Ternate. So full marks for the practical part.

But that's just the beginning of the story: Azis, our guide was tireless in making things just right for us and extremely flexible, making sure we (and our 5-year old child) were comfortable at all times. This is not as easy as it sounds: the tourist infrastructure on the islands - and particularly on those outside Ternate - remains limited.

What you get in exchange is the trip of a lifetime: stunning beaches, beautiful nature, a fait bit of history, and the chance to experience a simpler, gentler way of life.

Just as importantly, this is a place where you as a traveller/foreigner/tourist remain a rarity and feel warmly welcomed by all - even though most people have nothing to sell you.

On the whole, we absolutely loved the North Moluccas and their people.
And the way we felt taken care of by Fatmawaty and Azis had a lot to do with it.
By the end of the trip, both were like friends to us.
We got to meet their families and to get a further insight into their lives and those of the ordinary people of these beautiful, forgotten islands.

We'd very much recommend the North Moluccas as a travel destination.
And if you do choose to go, don't hesitate to get in touch with Fatmawaty - she'll do her very best to make you love her island and to make sure your time there will be an unforgettable experience.
We wish her and Azis all the best!
