Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Try to be there whe the tide is low, and you'll see the locals digging the sand for mussels. Beautiful sight. Other than that, pretty basic, beach/ river mouth beer, sun and appetizers kind of place.

Beautiful beach. One hour from Recife to itamaraca island. From there take the boat or catamaran to aviao island. The catamaran is R$ 13 for person round trip. They have a food and drinks but it's kind expensive. It's a very good place to visit.

Itamaraca have several Paradises. One of it Manga Verde Beach at the south part of the island and the other one is Sossego Beach on the North part. Dont miss them. Best souvenirs of 1 year trip in Brazil.

Vila Velha is the site of the first European settlement in the new world and has the oldest church in North or South America. The site is well preserved, and tours are available in Portuguese, English and Spanish. The views of the ocean are spectacular. Historical marker signs are only in Portuguese. A small community of houses surrounds the church and has a couple of restaurants. Access by car or hike the trail from Fort Orange. Vila Velha was settled over 500 years ago and has been continuously occupied. This is a very important historic and cultural site. You should also visit Fort Orange where tours are available in Portuguese and English. There is no charge to visit Vila Velha, but it is nice to tip the Portuguese speaking guides R$5.

Fort orange beach is a tiny area between Fort Orange and Hotel Orange. It has many beach bars and stores. But from my viewpoint, this beach is best used for parking your car and taking a boat shuttle across the channel to Coroa de Aviao. Boats are readily available and are 15 reals per person round-trip. This beach suffers a little bit from a group of paid promotion people who greet every car and attempt to direct them to the restaurant or beach bar that is paying them that day. Unfortunately, their tactics are off-putting to many tourists.

Wow been going here for years when I am in the cayo’s . After the hurricane the restaurant was rebuilt . It’s bigger and better and the service is good . The staff were very polite and efficient. Food was good . The toilets are the in the same place as they were before the hurricane . They are not the best but remember this is Cuba and at a remote location The journey to Pilar was much longer from Cayo Coco but the only reason it seemed to take forever to get there . The open top bus does all the hotels and as more and more hotels are being built the longer it takes to get to Pilar . Maybe next time I go I will enquire how much a taxi will cost . This place is a little piece of paradise but the day we went this time it was windy and the sea that is usually like glass , so calm and serene was very rough . But that’s nature 🙂. I love Pilar Beach as I always have visited and will go again and again every time I am in the Cayos .i just wish the open top bus would have an another one as the journey has become tedious
