Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- JariJKKouvola, Finland5,324 contributionsThis new City Museum of Kouvola (Kouvolan kaupunginmuseo) was opened in November 2015. It is situated in the same building with Poikilo Art Museum, next to the Museum Quarter with old wooden houses.
When you go to the staircase, you see an interesting computer generated video projection by Charles Sandison, an English born Scottish visual artist who lives and works in Tampere, Finland. It consists of local historical documents, words and photos.
The museum has temporary exhibitions. The current exhibition tells about living in Kouvola and elsewhere in Finland from the 1960's to the 1980's. This exhibition is open until October 9th, 2016. The exhibition is very interesting but quite small. But I loved it.Written 19 March 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Art center is at old modern Church built in 1960s.
There is changing exhibition every year, so making it interesting place to visit annually. 2020 has limited opening, only July and present art from Pekka Halonen, Ferdinand von Wright and miscellaneous pieces from early 20th century.
Outside has Garden of Love, with sculptures.Written 22 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Surprisingly good art pieces one can also buy and coffee/tea was included in entrance fee. Worth visiting if you end up nearby.Written 17 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JariJKKouvola, Finland5,324 contributionsPuolakka House Museum is situated in Mäkikylä, Kouvola, about 4 kilometers from the city center. You see the main building and storehouses in the museum area. Oldest buildings are from the 18th century. The house was for residential use until 1957. The first museum was opened in 1962.
Nowadays Puolakka House Museum is an interesting combination of local history and art. The museum is quite small but they have good art exhibitions. Besides, there isn't any admission fee there. The museum is open every day and you see sheep and chickens in the yard. So this tiny museum is very interesting for the whole family, I think.Written 13 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Often they offer interesting viewpoints to local artists, but also some international artists as well.
Other museum showcases different aspects of history and life of the area. Very playful ideas in showcasing past life.Written 18 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Johanna K11 contributionsLovely part of town, nice for walking and enjoying the atmosphere. "Museum quarter" is a bit misleading name. This is no museum, people live here! Sure there are small shops and museums in some of the buildings.Written 4 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - annakandNummela, Finland31 contributionsInteresting surroundings for art exhibitions. Free entry. You can also rent paintings. Some small shops and a cafe as well. Worth visiting while in Kouvola. A little difficult to get there if you do not have a car.Written 18 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
