Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- B TLondon, UK1,214 contributionsA nice place to make a visit for the day- there is an excellent large beach, marina and a nature trail. There are some bus connections to Helsinki, Turku, Kokkola, Oulu and others that drop off in a convenient location. There is a supermarket with lots of food outlets, restaurants etc. There also look to be plenty of places to stay from hotels to camping with good facilities such as swimming pool and water park so it would be a nice place to stay for a few days.Written 20 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lorna K266 contributionsMaakalla, Kalajoki is really worth visiting - and we were really lucky with lovely September weather - no mosquitoes or bugs, and still the sun was shining and warm and the nights quite long.
There are some lovely walks - including the ones along the boardwalks stretching over the beautiful long beaches, but also a fantastic nature trail that ends up at a barbeque place (kota in Finnish) with firewood supplied (bring your own matches) and easy access toilets (bring toilet paper)Written 26 September 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. However, the opening and the entry to the park was poorly organized. It took 50minutes to the get and reason was technical (manual scanning of tickets, too little staff, not organized queuing etc.). True disaster came when I took some time and wrote the details of experience to the park. They were clearly ignored which is actually pretty sad. I happy to talk with a manager who is somehow interested what is happening in their park.Written 11 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lorna K266 contributionsI visited this centre today and its a very nice space (on three levels, with a lift if needed) right on the beach.
Its quite small but the exhibitions are very nice, with clear labels (also in English)
A nice touch was the small exhibiti encougaging you (and me!) to make a difference Inkeroinen the Baltic clean!
There is a small gift shop (needs more postcards of wildlife!) and good toilets.
What stuck me most were the lovely hands on exhibits for kids including a sort of submaribe to 'see' under the sea.Written 14 September 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There was both physical activity and sports game consoles on offer. Outside BMX & scoot park was just fine even though it should have been a little bigger.Written 14 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Only disappointment was that the long zip line wasn’t included in the activity park ticket.Written 4 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FinTravelCatHelsinki, Finland209 contributionsWe made a sea cruise on Galeas Ansio to the isle of Maakalla from Rahja's harbour. It took 1:45 to cruise to Maakalla and then we had an hour time to look around the small island and its harbour and village. Cruise back took about an hour. It was a great opportunity to get aquainted to the rugged beauty of the coastline. Around 35 guests participated. Fish soup and coffee was served and included to the fare. Local fishermen sold freshly smoked whitefish on Maakalla.Written 31 July 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
