Fantastically friendly and quick service to travel between Praia da Rocha, Ferragudo and Portimao and very reasonably priced

Lovely sandy beach that's not busy, even in August. 10 minute drive from Carvoeiro. No waves and water is quite cold and pretty clear, but still swimmable. Car park is free. If you walk through the sand dunes from the car park you get straight onto the beach. Turn left by the big orange coloured building and around the rocks you will find the cafe etc with red parasols. Beware of the tide coming in though if you have left everything on that side of the beach! We got ice creams at the cafe and only just made it back round the rocks. Otherwise you'd have to head away from the cafe and back round to the car park entrance.

We as a couple have stayed here on 2 occasions and I must say it is an absolute gem of a place to just unwind, with its renowned sister Seafood literally a 5 minute walk out of the main gate.

Took a small cliff top walk from ferraguda to find this hidden gem, walk was manageable for me and wife in flip flops and worth it the other end, when we got to the hidden cove, very few people were there making it more lovely, one restaurant there which was nice but we were after a light snack and it was very much lunch meals only.

Beach opposite to Portimao. Castle at one end and beyond the opposite of other end of beach lay fishermen boats. Pretty. Very calm as it is on the river estuary.

We visited place in the end of September.
Great views of cliffs and grottoes, Portimao and Ferragudo. We had a car and park near lighthouse. Also seen this place from the ocean during our Caves and Coastline Catamaran Cruise from Albufeira.

This is a small rectangular beach surrounded by golden cliffs on 3 sides. Access is tidal and the time slot is short especially when the sea is rough and you do not want to get your stuff wet. There is a rope access to 8-10 metres but not for the faint hearted. Good facilities at the adjacent Caneiros beach (restaurant, bar & toilets).

Naturism practiced here without problems. Be prepared for non-naturists from Caneiros beach to wander by at low tide.

This lovely little white church sits atop a cliff that overlooks the Arade River, and across to Portimão and Praia da Rocha. The interior of the church is quite tiny, but a lovely place to just sit for a few minutes and reflect. Well worth the walk up the hill.

This 7-8 k walk / hike starts at either Praia do Carvoeiro on the headland above Carvoeiro or at Praia do Mohle near Ferrugodo.
I commenced the walk from Carvoeiro, the start being at the side of the bar/restaurant above the beach. Almost immediately you are faced with quite a steep descent into the first hanging valley aided by a rope handrail, the path here had been badly eroded by I presume recent storms which was a common theme throughout the walk when ascending / descending the valleys so care must be taken, not sure if the authorities employ rangers to keep an eye on these trails but if not it wouldn't take too much work to keep the scrub back off some paths and as previously stated keep an eye on the ascents/descents. Maybe it is because these nature walks are in their infancy?, but there is so much promise which could do wonders for our of season tourism! Like the 7 Hanging Valley walk walking shoes are a must, the trails can be a little rocky & slippery and it goes without saying to take plenty of water / sunscreen and most importantly to stay away from the cliff edges as there are no safety ropes/ rails.
The walk itself is fantastic scenery wise akin to the 7 Hanging Valley walk with lots of sinkhole and caves giving lots of photographic opportunities, there is also a restored Watch tower about 2/3rds of the way into the walk with a good interpretation panel alongside. The views are stunning along the coast with Portimao, Lagos and Sagres all visible.
Once at Praia do Mohle there is a beach bar which was open on my visit ( Late Nov ) which provided refreshments before returning back. There and back took about 3.5 - 4hrs allowing time for photos and is well recommended.
Carvoeiro is an excellent base for a short 3 night break allowing you to complete both walks, the village itself has plenty of bars/restaurants as well as a lovely beach.
    Hope this helps !

Stopped by a couple of times during our week in Ferragudo. Owner is very friendly and helpful. Super Bock on draft. Large wide screen TV that owner relocated outside under cover for the Champions League Final lots of seating and he even organised some pizzas for those that did not want to miss any of the game. Very enjoyable evening despite the score line.

i don’t even know where to begin …. this is the best stop with the BEST customer service ever ! i was on holiday visiting from the uk and wanted to get a gift for someone . I accidentally snagged something and dropped a tile smashing it ! A man who i assume was the owner instantly reassured me and told me everyone has those moments and he too was having one of those days ! I paid for the tile yet he wasn’t satisfied with me leaving the shop upset , he gave me a tester soap and told me ‘ no one leaves my shop sad , only happy ‘ . He turnt an embarrassing situation into a happy one , if you ever get the chance or are considering coming here please do. Everything is amazing quality and the staff are lovely .
    1000/10 !!! 100% recommend !!
