- Kellie1921 contributionsWow just wow! Thanks to the staff at Tokka Safaris we had the most amazing day out in the wilderness upon snowmobiles. The temperature dropped to -26 and staff were only too happy to give us extra layers of clothing over our already warm layers including snow gear.
We travelled up through the fell and stopped half way for a warm tea, coffee, hot chocolate and doughnut. We then travelled back through the fell. It’s was absolutely amazing and a must do if in Levi! This was a perfectly organised experience where we had the opportunity to both ride and drive husky-led sleds before meeting dozens of beautiful and friendly dogs. Following this, it was a ~20mn drive to the reindeer farm, where we shared a sled between 2 of us and were pulled by a reindeer around a frozen lake. We were then lucky enough to spend some time with a Saami woman who shared elements of her culture - including folk songs and traditional dress - with us.

I worked in Canada in 1975 and wanted to ride a snowmobile then, but unfortunately never got a chance. Went on this trek, very bumpy and rough tracks, but easily manageable. It was bitterly cold -14 , I was fine driving with heated hand grips, but my wife's hands got cold even with 2 pairs of gloves on. We stopped half way for a break at a teepee. John our leader lit the fire and it was soon warming up. We then cooked sausages ,which were delicious, then toasted marshmallows. Washed down with a lovely warm Berry drink. It was very scenic driving down the snow covered forest tracks. - Kimberley M7 contributionsWhat a fabulous day! We were very fortunate to have a small group of just our family of four (children 12 and 8 years old) and another couple. Reindeer sleigh ride was first, followed by the husky sleigh ride, we got to meet and play with the huskies, they are gorgeous and so friendly.
There was quite a long wait after the husky lap, and it was freezing cold that day! Thankfully they had a fire pit to take the edge off. We were obviously waiting for lunch to be ready, so it would have been great if we’d had the chance to do another lap, I mean the dogs were wanting to run so badly, may as well run them!! If not, possibly starting the tour a half hour later so there wasn’t this waiting around time would be better.
Lunch was lovely, then we went onto the snowmobiling, which was fantastic. Make sure you dress with plenty of layers under the suit they give you, as the light fades it becomes very cold very quickly!
The kids rode in a sled behind the toir guide, then got to have a ride on their own snowmobiles on a track for kids afterwards, which was quick but they enjoyed it.
What a fabulous way to experience so many things on our bucket list. - Laura W27 contributionsHands down this was the absolute best excursion we booked and for a fantastic price too! We were picked up in the morning from our hotel and take to the nearby Snowmobile Park where we were kitted up with helmets and balaclavas and given full instructions on driving the snowmobile. There was only us booked on at the time and so we had a fully private tour with personal guide. The kids were tucked up in a sledge behind the guide (able to sit on the snowmobile for a photo but not to ride on), and we followed behind in a snowmobile and were able to swap halfway. The snowmobile handles were heated which was lovely but the kids did get a bit cold so I recommend foot/handwarmers and lots of layers. The guide made regular stops to make sure we were all ok and gave us really interesting facts about the surrounding area and answered any questions we had. The landscapes were absolutely stunning and I will never forget it. Communication with the tour company was great and pick-up arranged no problem.
We did the husky sled-ride first, which was really great and something I would totally recommend you do on a Lapland holiday. After our sled ride, we were able to spend time with all the huskies, who were very playful & affectionate! They were so cute. We even met a 4 month old puppy!
We then spent time with the husky owners in their wooden cabin, hearing stories from them & enjoying eating/drinking homemade Finnish treats.
At no point did this excursion feel rushed, we were there for a good couple of hours. It is definitely something we would do again! - sarapopoLos Angeles, CA35 contributionsWe had a fantastic time snowmobiling! Oskari and his team were very helpful and welcoming. Besides the frigid cold temperatures, it couldn’t have been better. The stop for hot berry juice (mehu) was a very welcome break to thaw out a bit. We loved riding over the lake and taking in the winter wonderland in the forest.
We had problems with the booking. I didn’t realize that I was dealing with Easy Travel, a different travel agency. I am traveling with my husband and two tweens, so I booked 2 adults and two kids. I got an email shortly after booking asking for my kids’ heights and weights and based on my response, I was told to rebook for three adults and one child, a double and a single snowmobile. When we arrived on-site, we were told it should have been four adults on 2 two double snowmobiles. There was a bunch of back and forth with the Agent over WhatsApp before the safari began.
The booking options would be much better if I was asked to input ages, heights, and weights during booking and the system calculated price. Or else, the booking instructions could be much more clear. In any case, Oskari was patient with me and Easy Travel is making it right, refunding me the difference in price.
Highly recommend this excursion while visiting Lapland!
