Parked right off the B99 for free and waterfall was a very short walk. Got really up close and it was beautiful. Worth the stop on our way to Carrickfergus

Brought the grandkids (aged 7 & 5), and they had a ball. The trail was well laid out and even though the weather wasnt great, we managed to easily follow the directions. We met a witch, a ghoul and a clown and all three interacted really well with the kids. On completing the trail and after handing the completed sheet back in, the kids were given goodies bags. They were delighted and thought they'd won.

This road is not high drama but is very attractive and quite diverse. Access to the water is possible at many points

We were traveling to a family event in the middle of Ireland, we were booked through Stena, but due to a tragic event we transferred to P & O.
Although facilities in the P & O ferry aren’t as good as the competitor, the staff were friendly and helpful, the bacon rolls were excellent, as the ferry was delayed we also sampled the restaurant and found the food in the cafe value for money and tasty.

As the ferries cost about the same, we now have a problem, which ferry do we choose

I was here for a summer evening event, a talk titled The Last Watch presents: The Beacons of the North East Coast of Ireland. Pat Power was the speaker, a former lighthouse keeper. It was extremely interesting to hear his recollections of living and working in different local lighthouses.

The venue is good. We were in the big room upstairs of the Carnegie building, the Larne Museum & Arts Centre. The talk was free to attend, although they did want people to sign up and book places online beforehand. They had tea, coffee and biscuits on offer in an interval in another room. Lighting acoustics and seating were all very good. Many people used a car park that was just across the road. It was a great night.

Tommy is the star attraction among all the nicknacks and paintings by local artists. I was mesmerized by his stories about local history and people. We found lots of common ground. The gallery has both prints and originals. It is situated in an area of the town which used to be thriving, but sadly the place is now neglected and somewhat rundown. However, you must persist to find the gallery. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and look forward to going back.

Really nice setting with views toward the port of Larne, the coast; and, across the Irish Sea (when weather is fair). Opportunities to see ferries arrive and leave the port.

The tower itself is a tribute to James Chaine who was instrumental in laying the foundations in making Larne the Port of significance it has became over the years.

I was very surprised and happy on my latest visit to discover that you’re once again allowed to use the microfilm machine here. It’s a tremendous resource. There are cleaning before-and-after notes to guide people using it.

These days Larne Library is open a generous six days a week. They shut Sundays, open from 10am to 5pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, open 2pm to 8pm Thursdays and 10am to 4pm on Saturdays.

The place is huge inside, and there’s a great number of books on the shelves to choose from.

When you leave, do take a look down the road for the recently-added sculpture by Kevin Killen. He makes metal pieces with words all over them. I like it.

Drove to family church (Fenton Church) near Larne. Found a few extended family headstones.
Gained access to church, took pictures, lit candles and spoke with 3 parishioners. Drove into Larne for lunch but no restaurants were open on Sunday so we had a picnic lunch in the car while trying to determine the GPS coordinates of my friend's family farm.

Petted a small horse friend near the McErlean family farm.

Drove around the Larne countryside, petted a miniature horse on the corner near her family farm, knocked on the door of house but no one answered.

Winter is here but it hasn't stopped me getting out and about exploring the surrounding areas. This weekend I and some friends decided that a winters walk around Ballyboley Forest near Larne Town would be a great opportunity to not only get out of the house but also stretch the legs out.

Ballyboley Forest is a man-made forest that supports the forestry service within Northern Ireland, but although it may be missing that explosive wildlife element you might find in a natural forest, but it still makes up for that with stunning wintery landscape views, maintained pathways and a chance to get a sweat on up some of the steeper pathways. A walk around this forest is a great opportunity to get the day in and I highly recommend people to come and visit but I also recommend a big breakfast/lunch before or after this activity.

I love a drive along the spectacular Antrim Coast Road up towards the Glens of Antrim. This is the best way to go because the scenery gets more interesting as you proceed northwards.
The construction of the road is a masterpiece as it skirts high cliffs and, at the tunnel, there is a seemingly impassable outcrop of hard rock that runs down to the sea, so the only answer was to tunnel through it, creating the iconic Black Arch.
