Breathtaking views of the Lake. Well worth it. Restaurant on top. Can sit inside and outside. The vibration of the bucket gave me itchy legs but all good. The bucket can only fit one or two people going up. It is a vertical ride up and pretty high. Choice of open or closed but we chose open and sometimes you can spot mountain goats going down

Historic house with some spectacular ceilings. Range ceramics from local town. English brochure and information leaflet. The house is as impressive as the contents.

Travelled from Stresa. Spent about 2h40 mins on 2 trains heading up the lake and took the boat back - also 2h40 mins. Essential to plan your trip using a timetable applicable to your stay as there are not too many options - at the start of June there is only one boat back from Locano down the lake and this is at 16h00. Everything worked well and at this time of the year was not too busy. Train trips spectacular. Boat trip also pleasant. Mountain scenery on the train from Domodossala to Locarno very special.

Laveno Mombello, one of the most beautiful villages overlooking the shores of Lake Maggiore, is certainly among the best known. Among the reasons of notoriety there is certainly the presence of the ferry that connects the Lombard coast with the Piedmontese one: enchanting, among other things, is the view of the Gulf of Laveno that can be admired from the ferry.
The Gulf of Laveno Mombello on the Lombard coast of Lake Maggiore: the ferry goes back and forth with Verbania Intra in about twenty minutes, a short distance away is the famous hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso Ballaro, equipped with a dock for the service boats public, the visit enriched by the passage on the lake will be truly an unforgettable walk. The view from the lake manages to provide a beautiful overall view of the beautiful town, nestled at the foot of the Sasso del Ferro with an astonishing panoramic summit reachable with the cable car from Laveno.

I have been in winter and Pizzoni are beautiful in winter too. Even more than in summer time in a sunny day and after wind

There was a possibility to jump to water from a boulder, some climbers went all the way to the top to jump. Path to the beach a bit challenging. Great beach still!

the outer walls are of medieval origin (crenellated part); the inner portion is Austrian (1850/58); the tower (1889) commemorating the battle lost by the Cacciatori delle Alpi of Garibaldi on 30-31 May 1859 and the seat of an ossuary. Superb panoramic position. Wide the public park that surrounds it. Laveno was an Austrian border town until 1859.

Starting from Piazza Fontana through Via Caprera you take Brena and Monteggia from where this trail that goes to Gigliola and Casere starts. It was the road that the valley dwellers made to get to Laveno. Bit more than 1 hour. To shorten the trip leave the car in Monteggia hamlet ( if you find a parking lot)

In the winter when it is not so crowded via Labiena is very nice. You can walk around and stop in a bar or restaurant
