- GapYrColColorado Springs, CO119 contributionsExcellent small museum run by the owners which cover different aspects of different groups of people (African, European, etc...) and culture, traditions, and costumes in Guadeloupe and other islands. It focuses on day to day living and the curators have their own items as well as those sourced from locals. They divide tour duties and do a phenomenal job explaining the various exhibits. There are also movies we unfortunately didn't have time to see which provide additional information. Plan on at least couple of hours for a visit to not feel rushed. - D S1 contributionFor context, I came to Guadeloupe on a last minute business trip so I didn’t have the luxury of being able to plan any activities for myself. I just happened to come across Monique’s page here on Trip Advisor and decided to contact her very last minute in hopes she would have an extra spot. She didn’t have an extra spot, but she was still able to connect me with someone else. She was very thorough in giving me information about the recommended excursion and even gave me information before I could even think to ask her for it. Monique genuinely wanted to help me have a good time here in Guadeloupe even if it wouldn’t be with her. This gesture meant a lot to me, and left me with a great impression of the island. Also, I don’t speak a lick of French, so it was a relief that I was able to communicate with her in English!

- Haith KWashington DC, DC6 contributionsHad a great time on Laurent's boat--a native Guadeloupe resident very knowledgeable about the island, its landscape and vegetation, people and culture, etc. Funny, attentive, gracious guide. The trip to the fisherman's shack, where he makes grilled fish for lunch as we had his homemade punch...really wonderful! Take a look at the photos of the shack sitting in the middle of the sea--it's really gorgeous, feels out of time and really romantic. - tom mWestfield, NJ14 contributionsIt’s a bit of a challenge for English speakers to make good connections in Guadeloupe for scuba. Not that it’s too hard once you’re there, but setting things up in advance can be challenging, and this beautiful island is overwhelmingly French-speaking. So here’s an all-around great solution for divers of any skill level. Mathieu is a very professional instructor and guide, has just the right attitude and clearly loves what he’s doing. Great communicator, responsive via both email and text (w/i next day every time). My son and I did our PADI open water checkout dives with him in December 2018 after the classroom and pool work up north in the cold. Great success in the Cousteau Reserve. Mathieu is aligned with another operator, but he’s your divemaster, making sure everything goes perfectly with no issues on gear, process on the boat or getting to the right place on time. Very good English skills, enjoyable to work with, does diving right.
