What travellers are saying
- Cfan41Sydney, Australia113 contributionsOk - so to get to the standard tourist lookout is pretty easy. There are stairs, a cafe and tourist infrastructure. However, if you want to go to the peak (there are three peaks) then there is a further climb and it is a path but steep and over rocks etc. Not possible to do when raining, would be dangerous to do if wet. Not really for kids or people that are not at least a little fit.Written 4 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Matthew PWiltshire, UK99 contributionsIt’s a nice walk down to the bridge from the south side of Ella. If you walk back up it’s very steep! It’s a very long walk from the north side and we got a Tuk - Tuk back that was probably massively overpriced (3k LKR). Once you’ve taken your photos it’s time to go.Written 25 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AztecLifeUnited Kingdom1,134 contributionsOur favourite thing we did during our time in Ella. If you are reasonably fit and have some decent walking shoes it’s not too difficult with a round trip taking just over 3 hours. It was lovely to get away from the crowds of Little Adam’s Peak and the Nine Arch Bridge and be able to enjoy the amazing scenery Sri Lanka has to offer.
A few tips:
+Read a couple of online blogs from people who have done the walk so you get an idea of the route. Many will include some pictures so you now where to look out for the path. It’s not overly difficult and you’ll likely see others doing the same walk.
+Be wary of any locals pointing you onto the path.
+The path is rocky and can be slippy/muddy in places depending on the weather so some good shoes are needed.
+Check the weather - you want to be able to see the view and not be stuck in cloud at the top.Written 2 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It wasn't a very long process but I'm not sure you'd want any longer as it's warm in place in the factory.
It was 1000 rupees each.
Would definitely say it's something you should go and see if you are a tea fan.Written 31 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Sam showed us his wonderful garden filled with spices and fruits - such a nice and unexpected addition to a usual cooking class. His sister then took us through making 7 dishes which were all delicious. He also arranged transport there and back on request which was very helpful. We couldn’t recommend the experience enough!Written 10 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Redouan17 contributionsIt's worth the visit. Things you must take with you: swimming clothes, towel, proper set of clothes for after and extra good battery Light. - Pirasa P1 contributionThis cooking class was amazing !!! Rubini was a really good teacher. We were all quick and efficient and the meal was very tasty !!! - Matthew PWiltshire, UK99 contributionsEasy walk to the summit if you are fit and able. Steps all the way up and you can do it in 15 mins easily. There’s no need for a guide in my opinion. You can walk to a slightly lower summit but that is just a rough, steep footpath down and up again which requires some care and proper footwear (trainers not flip flops). It’s very steep and scrambling in places. Views are ok but wish I’d done the bigger walk up Ella Rock.Written 25 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
