Tough you have to walk to the steep hill it ´s definetely worth it. However it ´ s not suitable for smaller kids. The view is breathtaking.

Due to the Corona virus pandemy, the visit is without a guide for private groups only, but it's worth a visit. Not in many castles there are so many place accessible for visitors as in this one. Receiving a printed guide with a map and descriptions you can start your own adventure 🙂

Definitely will recommend. It is amazing place of wooden carvings and history of Banska Stiavnica. Exhibition is in small room but packed with miniatures and carving figures. Each has the story to tell. Small entry fees but absolutely worthy.

After climbing up the streets and stairs to the bulding of Mining Academy we went into this nice park to relax. This is a huge area (7 hectares). It was used for practical courses for students from 1850's. Now it's open for public, free entrance. It's well cared for and clean with lots of green. We saw some exotic plants and trees: e.g.sequoia or cedar. We was walking and relaxing. Our favourite part was the tiny pond with beautiful water lilies.

After the quarantine we visited two "mining towns": Kremnica and Banska Stiavnica last week. Both are nice historic places, we loved them. In the centre of this town you can found the Main square with the Holy Trinity Column which was built after the great plague epidemic (1710-11). This square was the most important forum of the town in the past. Nowadays there are some restaurants and bars around and you can taste the good Slovak beer or wine.

This Castle has an other name, too: Girl Castle. It can be seen from everywhere in the town because it lies on a hill. It was built between 1554-1571 against the Turkish attacks. It belongs several ghost- and witch-legends. It has 4 corner towers and 24 cannons. This Renaissance Castle has a rich history, and some important functions: eg.: clocktower, belltower etc. Today it's a museum. You can see lots of flags and arms there. The view is breathtaking, you can see the whole town.

During a hot summer day, this is a perfect spot for refreshment for free! Close to Banska Stiavnica, free parking and entrance and clear cool water of a perfect temperature. Public toilet, changing "Area" and fast food stands available. Great!

It was very nice to visit the place again after many years. It offers only guided tours, you cannot enter on your own. We had a bigger group, but people tried to keep social distancing. The interior is still great, rooms are beautifully preserved. Its a pity pictures cannot be taken. We visited the park after our tour, its gorgeous. Big, nicely kept. Overall we enjoyed our time spent there very much.
