This route was suggested in Tourist office as an alternative to Fløya in a rainy day. We are experienced hikers, but I didn’t want to take a risk to take kids up if the weather will get worse. We walked from boats marina to the start of the trail next to fire station. The trail starts as a tractor way and continues through the steep forest after. There are 2 tops you can access walking the same ridge. The both are easy, but the higher one had 20-30 meters you need to hold a rope. Views from both are breathtaking. Good hiking shoes are always advised!

This 1.1 km steep hike is so worth it for the rewarding view once you’re on top of the mountain. There are a couple of smaller parking lots near the starting point. Otherwise, you can park in the Reine center and walk to the starting point but that adds another km walk to it. The climb had steps, so was not too bad to climb it. We climbed it during a drizzle rain but made it safely to the top within 50 min. Because of the rain, Less people were hiking when we did the hike so we had plenty of time to take pics when we were on top. The view of Reine is beautiful from the Top.

If you have knee problems, I would not suggest hiking this since it’s 1.1 km of steps only.

Hiking up is definitely worth the effort. If you dont dare to go all the way up: there is incredible views to be seen in the midsection of the trail in ”heiavannet viewpoint” as well. If you are climbing all the way you should still visit this midsection viewpoint and possibly swim in the lake located up there. Locals said that I could also drink the water from the lake beside ”hieavannet” and I did top my bottles there! :)

All the way to the top awaits a view that is really worth the trouble of getting up there. To me it took about 2h to climb all the way up. Would probably reserve 3-4h total so you can rest and take in the view as well. There is paid parking at the starting point.

From the midsection up the trail is more tricky. If it is raining be extra careful.

We parked our car at the end of the tunnel and the hike up took us about an hour and a half with several stops for pictures. Quite easy at the beginning but gets steep about halfways. Not suitable for young children but otherwise you don't need to be a very experienced hiker. The path is easy to follow and there's wonderful view from the top.

Lofoten; one of the World's wonders.
The remaining ridge from the split between The Americas and Europe.
Lofoten's nature, environment and atmosphere is a must for "The bucket list".

Parking is free but was a little confusing to find as it is not well marked; I used directions found on a hiking website. From there, it was easy to find the trail head. Numerous parts of the trail were very muddy and even had some standing water. Good hiking boots with waterproofing are a must!! The hike is relatively easy compared to some others in the area but still requires some fitness and appropriate outerwear and shoes. The incline was only steep/rocky in a few parts. It took me about 2 hours to reach the top. I brought along some lunch and enjoyed the view from the top. I was hiking alone and only saw one other hiker that day so it was less crowded than some of the other hikes in the area.

We had an amazing tour with Northern Explorer. Carlos, Martin & Alex were the best guides! The weather was pleasing and we will remember this experience forever.

We’d been planning a day excursion with Lofoten Lights since 2020, only to have to cancel twice due to Covid. We were so excited to actually be able to visit and tour with them in June 2022, and we were not disappointed. Communication over email during all of our rescheduled dates was prompt, professional and helpful. In spite of our cruise ship arriving 2 hours late, Lofoten Lights was there to greet us and accommodated the delay without a misstep. Our guide Erik, was a wealth of knowledge and gave us a grand overview of the Lofoten area. The landscape was beautiful, and we had plenty of photo stops. Our walking tour of the village Å was interesting and picturesque. We loved our experience and highly recommend this family-owned business for your next visit to Lofoten!

The trail is not that difficult (for experienced hikers rather easy), not that long (2-3hours returning) but the views are stunning! We met a local who said it was her favourite trekiking in Lofoten, that means something :)
