Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We hiked up half dome last weekend. We were a group of 6 (3 adults-2M/1F in their late forties, two 17 yrs old boys and one 13 yr old girl). The adults had been practicing hiking every Sunday for last 2+ months. Kids only went hiking couple of times. On the hike day we woke up by 4:30 and got ready to leave House Keeping camp by 5:15. We parked at the trail head parking and at 5:40 am we were at the Happy Isles to start our hike.
We reached Vernal falls by 6:40 am, and took 45 mins break there for breakfast and restroom.
We reached Nevada Falls by 8:15 am, took another break for snacks and restroom.
We walked the Little Yosemite valley, it felt long and never ending. We reached bottom of base dome by 11:30am.
We reached base of half dome by 12:15 pm. Climbing base dome was very tiring.
We started the cables section around 12:30 and reached the top by 12:50. I felt the cables was the most challenging and dangerous part of the hike.
We ate some snacks on top, posed for pics at the iconic lip/wedge and then started descending the cables around 1:30 since rain was in the forecast.
Reached the bottom of the cables around 1:50, wind had picked up speed by then, it was blowing at 25m/h and it rained for couple mins which scared everyone.
We kept walking till we reached bottom of base dome where there was less wind. We ate our sandwiches for lunch and then started the long walk to Nevada Falls. It again seemed never ending. We soaked our tired feet in the river near Nevada falls and rested for some time and then took the John Muir trail to reach the foot bridge of Vernal falls. The 2 teenage boys were ahead of us and reached the parking 2 hrs before us. By the team we reached parking lot it was around 7pm. Overall it was a beautiful hike but everyone was exhausted by the end of it.

As soon as you exit from the tunnel (if you are coming via Route 41), you will arrive at Vista Point. Turn in there, park your car, walk a few steps, and be blessed with a flabbergasting view of the three iconic sites of Yosemite Valley – El Capitan, Bridal veil Falls and Half Dome.

The stunning vista of granite and the deep valley below with all the trees just gives you a sense of the immense size of the park. There is a small wall where you can sit and take some great photos.

The place is a little crowded, but people are in and out of the small parking lot fairly quickly after getting a quick photo.

Worth a short stop just to take in that beauty. On your return home, if you are able to catch the sunset rays, you will see the granite glow red, and look as if it is on fire. That is Amazing!

Tuolumne Grove is an awesome plane to visit even in the winter. The area is so beautiful and quiet especially in the winter. We did not wear snowshoes, but still managed to do some hiking. If you have then, definitely bring them to make it easier. If you have young kids, a sled makes a big difference. Our kiddo enjoyed the trail because she didn’t have to hike and she got to sled.

I have visited the History Center in Wawona many times. This time I spent most of my visit in the new Chinese Laundry Building that is across from the gray barn. It was fascinating to learn about the contributions from this group in the development of Yosemite NP. I enjoyed the signs, information, and photos.

Winter, summer, spring or fall, we go here for the relaxed friendly vibe and access to Glacier Point and the stunning beauty of Mariposa Grove. One day during our stay we drive into The Valley and do some hiking, eating, and picturetaking. The Wawona Hotel features the superb musical skills of Mr. Tom Bopp, pianist and historian extraordinaire, who tickles the ivories and delights the parlor habitués with his deep knowledge of Yosemite history and American songbook classics. Try to stump Tom--it ain't easy!

Plenty of parking to view wonderful scenery. You can climb on the rocks and there are steps going down to a path. Walk the entire length of the sidewalk to view different parts of the park.

This time when we stopped at Valley View, there was an open air Valley Floor Tour vehicle stopped for all the participants to take in the views. It was crowded, but we could still get great views of the river and of Bridalveil Fall across the valley.

This bridge is good to walk through, to ride the stagecoach through, or to photgraph from outside. It's a classic.

Note that if you don't want to walk in horse droppings, walk in the narrow side section.

Beautiful but crowded. The drive through to the valley is the best part. Around the lodges and restaurants it is packed with people. Lots to do outdoors but not a serene environment.

Having seen an Ansel Adams exhibit at the MET in the late 1980s, I was so eager to visit this place. I was shocked to see that about 1/4 of the place had his photos while the rest of the place was like a glorified souvenir store, more than an actual gallery. I would visit again, though.

This would be a ten star rating if possible. The view was spectacular with Half Dome, Vernal Falls, and Nevada Falls all in the same shot. This viewpoint is possibly the best in all of Yosemite.

The trail is better to be hiked clockwise. It starts at the west end of the parking lot, a big curve to the foot of the Dome. There is no clear path to the top of the dome, but most people will start to climb when they meet the first fork , left side leads you to the top of Dome, it is less steep. The right fork leads along the edge of the meadow to the Tuolumne River. Once you climb to the top, and plan to descend the dome, you just head straight North, you will reach the trail along the river. Follow the trail and the water sound, you reach the Secret Tuolumne River Cascade. It is a picturesque cascade and a good swimming pit.
Once you are done with the cascade, you can follow the trail between the river and dome, and return to the parking lot in a mile. Be sure to check the Cathedral Peak and other surrounding mountains along the return path.

Sentinel Bridge is located just after the Yosemite Chapel. We had an excellent view of Half Dome reflected on the Merced River. The location is excellent for photo shoot.
