This park is a nice place when it is hot because it offers a lot of shadow and tranquillity. You can walk further to the castle. The entry is free.

We were planning on going to the higher villages but due to car sickness from one of our party members left us in this little town before heading down. Tiny little town. Must, must by the local jamon and jamon iberico here!!! So good and cheap. We hit up 3 jamon shops before heading down. We also got some bread at the Galician bakery and produce and honey at the local stores. Everything we purchased there was fantastic. Regretted not buying more of everything..especially the jamon iberico which out of the 3 shops we went to only one at the far end sold sliced.

When we pasted by Lanjarón by accident we saw the castle and stopped for a view walked to the viewpoint. Parked at the hotel close by. Good for a pitstop stunning views on the valley.

You can see this tiny chapel from Lanjaron, high on the ridge towards Orgiva between the 2 sets of telecommunications towers. You can walk from town to the top in about 50 minutes. A friend on the way up the road to Caballo Blanco Trekking Centre, dropped me off at the start of the track, so it only took about 15 munutes to the top. Spectacular views over Lanjaron and the other side of the ridge. From town, head towards Orgiva, pass the Museum of Water and cross the bridge past the ham factory. Turn left. You will see a sign here at the corner. Continue up the road till you come to the tiled track marker. Worth it for amazing views early in morning or in late afternoon.

Easy to find. I don't understand why some reviewers said it was difficult. A very enthusiastic lady gave us a talk in Spanish and our tour leader translated into English so we didn't miss anything. Well worth a visit with lots of displays.

What a great week I have had out in Sierra nevada, 2 days were spent on an alpine course learning all of the basics that I would need and the last 2 days spent climbing the mulhacen, the guides were great, very experienced and knowledgeable people that I couldn't recommend enough. Everything from the trip planning to actually doing the climbs was very easy, if you get the chance I highly reccoemnd Spanish highs

Went for a very interesting herbal walk with a group of 33 people, with Sue explaining about the local herbs and flowers. We arrived at their beautiful cortijo with a breathtaking view where Pete received us with cold drinks followed by a delicious lunch made with ecological and locally sourced produce. After this Sue taught us to make our own cheese, with milk from the local goats, of course, which was a blast. Pete took us for an entertaining and very interesting walk around their plantations, telling us all about their tips and tricks for sustainable agriculture in the mountains. Sue and Pete are so nice, friendly and helpful, nobody wanted to leave.
It was such a great experience, we all loved it and will remember it for a long time!

Travelling to Lanjaron with my family the main reason for the trip was to visit the spa. Reservations were easy and the thermal treatment included a hot pool, cold pool, regular soaking pool (in solitude) and a steam room. They gave each of us a plastic cup to stay hydrated during our time which was one hour. For 25 euro you will get a robe to use after you change in the locker room (Be sure to wear sandals to go up to treatment area, also bring brush, comb and other items you may need afterwards). They do have hair dryers there in the locker room. One euro deposit you use in the locker for key. Enjoy your time there.

A fantastic week- the highlight was paella making (3 different types) and associated seafood prep...followed by the eating! The visits were also great fun, informative and fattening. Steve, the host , really knows his stuff but also how it fits with the culinary and cultural traditions of the surrounding Alpujarra mountains.
    Highly recommended- Que Aproveche!

What a week! Great trails and Simon and Emma can’t do enough. Plenty of singletrack. We stayed in in a farm house close to the town, meal provided in the evening but also great bars in town. Highly recommend. We’ll be back!
