What travellers are saying
- Dana Los AngelesLos Angeles, CA1,264 contributionsHarvard is an exceptional place, and more than just a University. Perhaps sounds like a sales brochure, but in this case it is true. You get to experience the place and history on your own. A "old" turn off to some seeking modern and updated but loved by others.Written 14 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BruceSXMNew York City, NY210 contributionsWe went to see the Glass Flowers exhibit, which was incredible, but there is so much more to see here as well. Definitely worth an hour or two of your time when you are in the area.Written 5 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. From the moment I saw they were going to have this exhibit, I knew I wanted to go. The artwork was phenomenal. Most of the works had a religious theme to it but it was truly amazing. The paintings and colors were remarkable. In addition to these works of art they also had plenty of other works from other great civilizations; Greek, Roman, Middle Eastern and Southwest Asia among others as well.
Three museum has 3 floors of displays and it is packed with the works of some of the greatest artists. You should visit this museum whenever you get the chance, but if you happen to be in town on a Sunday, then definitely go on a Sunday because admission is free.Written 13 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Some of the architecture is worth paying attention to as well. There is an interactive map available on line that will point you to things worth seeing. Street parking was difficult to find so we left the car in a reasonably priced lot.Written 10 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Adventure DivaManchester, CT1,950 contributionsFrom watching the crew teams practice their rhythmic sweep rowing to walking on the esplanade, I enjoy visiting every time I am in town. To enjoy the sights and energy of this area is a New England treat.Written 16 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JaneChicago, IL10 contributionsBeautiful house full of history and cultural significance. Ranger Kate did an AMAZING job as our tour guide, and brought to life not only the lives of the significant men who lived there (George Washington and Longfellow), but also the families and domestic servants (sometimes slaves) who supported the running of the household. Fascinating look into history - definitely worth the short walk from Harvard Square.
Tip: you cannot visit the house without a tour. Get there early to reserve your spot. You won't regret it!Written 8 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SittaSweden271 contributionsThe first floor exhibition is good and interesting, while the rest felt a bit confusing. Or tried to cover too much in too little space. Still well worth the visit.Written 2 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- William JPortsmouth, UK367 contributionsWe used the Charles River bike path during our stay in Boston. It was a little tricky to find for out-of-towners (our opinion) as we hoped to pick it up via Paul Revere park without much success - around the Science Park area there are a number of crossings and limited signage directing users to the path, which could be introduced to help tourists. That said, once we did find it (via the help of a jogger) we had a lovely cycle down to Harvard and back again.Written 26 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jim DormanWeymouth, MA12 contributionsI'm not much of science guy, but this place was pretty cool. If science is your thing, you will probably love it. I wish I had a little more time, but I really enjoyed some of the special exhibits like "Lighter, Faster, Stronger" about the Herreshoff shipbuilders (through May 2021), and the cool displays that mixed art with learning about motion and all sorts of cools stuff. I only had about an hour, but you might need a little more time - very cool gift shop, attentive, friendly and smart staff. Free with my Mass Teachers Association card.Written 26 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- TraveldocNewton, MA75 contributionsThis is a wonderful intimate theater at Harvard. The structure is almost entirely wooden, and has a warm resonant sound that is instantly compelling. The theater is small, and every seat is great. No blocked view anywhere. There are many events taking place throughout the year. Chamber music is some of the best anywhere. Choral music is spectacular. Plan your trip around an event. You will rarely hear better.Written 28 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
