Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Drove through this area and took some beautiful pictures. I know you can walk around but we found it easier to drive.

We decided to volunteer while on vacation and this was an amazing experience. The work they put in for this rescue is amazing. We had a group of 4 and all of us would definitely do it again.

Super easy you can email them and set up a Saturday to volunteer. They only want 1 week in advance and then you rsvp and get all the information. It’s so worth it. We also got free tshirts!

I will say do not Google or map the way by searching the title. Make sure you use the address given in your rsvp email. Us and another group went to the old location. Oops!

The exhibition is extraordinary with very powerful social justice statements. New works added since I was last here in 2019. I find it is still one of the most moving exhibits I have seen in quite some time. BMike does great work in the community too.

Was downtown walking and looking down the street I saw beautifully decorated balconies. It was refreshing to see such a clean street after walking bourbon.

While visiting a friend on that side of town we stumbled upon the park. The walkway over the trains caught our attention. Great walkway along the water! Lovely outdoor space to walk & watch boats on the river! Recommend for a quiet, beautiful walk!

Wonderful piece of New Orleans history. The place that made many of the black Indian costumes famous during Mardi Gras. Played a role in the HBO series Treme.

Proprietor is a wonderful man willing to spend time and tell you his story.

Great place to visit. So worth it.

One of the best museums I've visited. Totally rebuilt after Katrina, it has a great outdoor display of vehicles, aircraft and artillery. Indoor exhibits are well put together, holding a visitor's interest. They've just finished a permanent exhibit on the War of 1812 and the Battle of New Orleans. Great research library on Louisiana military units and histories. Kudos to the staff who assisted us with research on my daughter's grandfather, who served with the Washington Artillery in WW2.

We thought the beer here was the best in the city! They had a nice little outside sitting area in the back and offered flights.

To think we almost missed this gem! We walked into a grocery store and commented on a cool sign over the register. The owner said, “Oh, that’s Dr. Bob’s. His gallery is around the corner. You should check it out”. It was such an experience. Dr. Bob even smiled for a picture…he’s not much of a smiler!

My husband and I went there before Thanksgiving for a happy hour with food and DJ.
We had a blast!!!! Such a cool and unique place that you must see by yourself. You’ll be amazed!
I wish I knew how to play instruments and that there were more artists in there, so we could make good music.
The DJs did the job well and we danced and enjoy the moment.

That’s the place I’d recommend to anyone! Definitely a must-go!

Bayou Sauvage is NOT near Lacombe! It is just off US Highway 90 - East of I-510 - New Orleans East The Ridge Trail and Joe Madere units are on opposite sides of the highway and less than a mile apart with good signage.

Ridge Trail Unit: This area has a really nice parking lot, restroom facilities, a shelter with picnic tables and a great boardwalk that is fully wheelchair accessible. There are numerous benches along the way to rest or just sit and enjoy the atmosphere. The bordwalk is about 1/2 mile and comes out to a roadway that goes about another 1/10 mile back to the parking lot. There are several walkways going off to the side and ending at little observation decks.

Joe Madere Marsh Unit: This area has a nice parking lot with a shelter and picnic tables. There is a short boardwalk out to an observation deck. There is also a boat launch which, theoretically, opens out to the marsh and some open water. When I visited, there was a small clear area and it appeared that any outlet was closed off by vegetation.

For the traveler who enjoys animals or sitting on porch fronts in rocking chairs, this is the place for you. The interpretive center is full of living and non-living animal artifacts. There are nature trails that allow you to sit in many places and they are relatively well-maintained. For the avid hikers, the trails are rather short and not at all strenuous, so perhaps not the best choice for them.

Fort Pike was an American fort based at the mouth to the entrance to Lake Ponntchartrain (which is actually a lagoon). The brick and earthen fort is small and an hour would be enough. The battlements are cool and it's a fun exploration.

There was a mix of new jazz and contemporary compositions at Marigny Opera House
Sun. Dec. 29 | Violinist Alexandre Negrao, cellist Riclebio Souza and percussionist Jason Marsalis look back on the old and contemplate the new in a concert of “old classics, Brazilian treasures” and a new piece, “The Road Ahead,” by New Orleans composer Tucker Fuller.

Very good venue and music was lovely.
