Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Wander176271362231 contributionZelda was an amazing tour guide. Smooth transitions with pace and information given. Passion was shown throughout walk and had the group very comfortable. Will be coming back with friends and family!Written 31 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tansy2015Brighton, MI333 contributionsOur first stop was to visit a visitor center to get maps of the city. The gal there said it was the cheapest place to park-$5 dollars per day so we parked our car there as well. It is a good location for a walk around the quarter and 5 or so blocks down you can catch all of the trolleys.Written 18 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Travel7934549 contributionsLocated in the Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans, this museum is a must for insight into the black community of New Orleans. Focus of the tour is the Mardi Gras Indians. Costumes on display reflect the detail in the costumes, which are hand-made by the participant wearing it. The color and creativity are astounding, and the hours of work each required is obvious. But the costumes are just the start - the communities of African Americans in New Orleans are reflected in the traditions and activities of many groups, including the Mardi Gras Indians, jazz funerals, social aid & pleasure clubs, Baby Dolls, and Skull and Bone gangs. The tour is only able to scratch the surface of the history of this community, but it definitely made me want to find out more.Written 23 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A great tribute to Mr Armstrong

It has a little cafe to grab a snack, ice cream or a cool drink

I was lucky enough to be able to go inside with a parish member, as it is not currently open to the public. But is was so amazing.Written 8 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tansy2015Brighton, MI333 contributionsAt the end of the line for the red trolly. Get off to the right, cross the bridge and it’s on the right side of the street. Paul Prudhomme is buried here.Written 21 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Drew KBallwin, MO895 contributionsMy son and I visited the site of the Battle of New Orleans on our annual trip to visit American battlefields. The site is well preserved and documented. The small visitors' center provides a great introduction and overview of the battle, I was disappointed that the Chalmette mansion was not open to visitors. A word of warning, to reach the park you must drive through some sketchy areas of New Orleans.Written 18 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AfricahunterFranklin, WI42 contributionsWe attended on Sunday May 1st and had a great time. Since this was our first time we didn't know what to expect. The Jazz Fest shuttle from our hotel worked great and was very efficient with lots of helpers, definitely use the shuttle. The weather was hot but there were some shaded areas to rest but not as many tents as I would have thought. The music was incredible with a great variety of very talented musicians. We enjoyed browsing all the vendors and eating lots of the great food! We will be back again. Next time we will bring some bag chairs and a small cooler.Written 17 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tour was good with very knowledgeable tour guide.Written 30 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - susanonoAlbuquerque, NM933 contributionsOr maybe Al swings or bops, but he definitely knows an absolute ton about the history of jazz and it’s assorted offshoots. He starts with ancient Egypt and works his way up to modern times via his words and an odd collection of tape decks scattered over two rooms, and pictures and memorabilia that plaster the walls. He also allows dancing but leave your camera in your pocket unless you want a picture with Al but don’t be photographing the exhibits. If you have any interest in jazz you will enjoy an hour with Al, you will learn something and you might find yourself dancing.
As others have mentioned please call first and make an appointment so as to avoid disappointment.Written 29 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The presenters are engaging and interactive with the ~30 audience members.
We were two elderly couples who happened on this tour—given only on Fridays and Saturdays.
We learned not only about the freed slaves in NOLA but also about NOLA’s history in general.
The black cabdriver who picked us up asked, “What’s there?” So it’s a hidden gem in NOLA not to be missed.Written 31 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I walked away knowing and appreciating the city and it’s culture so much more. Make sure to book an appointment ahead of time as all tours must be scheduled.Written 29 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Angie GEdmonton, Canada80 contributionsDefinitely worth a visit. A somber, but peaceful and beautiful place. I wished I had brought beads to lay down, as many others had. You can get here on the streetcar that runs down Canal St called Cemeteries.Written 12 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
