Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Took the green trolley through the garden district. It took about two hours there and back. $3 pp. worth the trip as you get to see the homes and not worry about the drivers

Was not sure what to expect to be honest, but one of 3 ( the other adult) in our family was not feeling well and wanted to venture out, and while informational, this wouldn’t be “their thing” per say.
Didn’t use, but like the fact they have a free shuttle pick up locations. We had already purchased a jazzy pass and it was a quick (15 or so min) walk from the stop.
The video to start was informative, the king cake was delicious, our guide, whose name I don’t recall) was nice. It’s a fairly quick tour if you do guided, but you can walk around after If you want to get any additional photos. Over all it was a fun experience and neat to learn about the making of the floats and how it’s set up over all.

Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 is a historic cemetery in the Garden District neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. It was founded in 1833 and still in use today and was included in the National Register of Historic Places on February 1, 1972, for its architectural and social-historical importance. Unfortunately the cemetery has very limited opening hours and so when I visited I could not walk around the cemetery but that said it was still an interesting place to see even just from the gates!!

Old part of NOLA. Long street with pay to park is a must. Walk one hour and walk one hour back. Locals go here. Unique shops.

    Mardi Gras is terrific.
I had a lot of trepidations coming to Mardi Gras 2023. How we were surprised.
First by chase we happed to pick a hotel Le Meridien that had a number of uptown parades go by it. There is something satisfying to be able to catch beads thrown from the floats.
We came on Sunday but would now come a couple days sooner.

The town was amazing how they cleaned up the streets overnight. As a parade goes by there is all garbage people bring and generated by the parade and street vendors. In the next morning or 3 hours later after the parade the streets are clean.

On Fat Tuesday at 2 pm, it is worth it to see the people on Royal Street. People wore creative costumes. When the sun goes down, most people are on Bourbon Street. It is crowded.
They say after midnight Bourbon Street changes character. We didn’t stay for it.

It was a lot of decent fun!!!

A must if you are a music person. Saw Galactic last night for probably the 5th time over the years…. Wow what a show. Packed house but everyone friendly and the bar tenders served quickly.

This is a fun little museum. There is a small concise exhibit on foods that each southern state is noted for. My favorite part is the huge wall exhibits on the Museum of the American Cocktail. This was very well done and interesting, with many old alcohol bottles, unique shakers and other bar tools, vintage posters and other unique items. There is a bar that was rescued after Hurricane Katrina where you can have a drink before you go. It is a fun place to visit. Plan 1-2 hours.

I love visiting old churches and came across St. Mary's a couple of blocks off Magazine St. You first must check in at the church office where you are given a brief introduction of the Blessed Seelos shrine. In the church office I would recommend seeing the brief video on Blessed Seelos. After the video there is a room with info on his life with several items used by Fr. Seelos during his time serving the parish. Moving back outside you will walk along side of the church to the entrance where you will enter a room with a reliquary with over 50 first class relics including the 12 apostles, the robe of Jesus, wood of the cross and many saints. This is a must see to be in the presence of these very Holy articles. In the next room is the final resting place for Blessed Seelos where you can pray at his tomb.
Before leaving be sure to step inside the beautiful church with its statues, stained glass and beautiful altar and choir loft. Now that you have learned much about this saint be sure to stop off at the gift shop in the church office to see the many religious articles and books for purchase.

Walking distance from Commander's Palace. The whole neighborhood is beautiful and well worth the stroll. The house was under renovation when I visited, and dimly lit, which was spooky and cool. Just be respectful as it's privately owned!

We truly enjoyed our visit to St. Alphonsus. A couple of kind gentlemen gave us a tour and shared the unique history of this beautiful church. The stained glass windows are exquisite. It's a wonderful place for anyone who loves history, art, and historical architecture.

We had tried the Rum in a good cocktail bar called the Victory and loved it so wanted to visit the distillery. They offer tours Wednesday to Saturday but we were flying home on Tuesday so just called on the off-chance and the co-owner ( sorry, not sure if Andrew or Patrick) was kind enough to talk us through the history of the business and let us sample all the rums- which were excellent.
No gimmicks , just really good Rum.
    Highly recommended.

The House of Broel defies description - just go and see it and marvel at the force of nature that is Bonnie Broel. Just make sure you book in advance.

It's great to visit sites connected with holy men and women who have gone before us. The museum and shrine communicate well the life of Bl. Francis Xavier Seelos. Spent about an hour there. Make sure to visit the church and pray before his tomb.
