Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

    Fascinating tour and gorgeous house.
They should have room information cards made in various languages ( Spanish, French, German etc) as French speaking visitors couldn’t communicate with the tour guide who has to rely on Google translate. Or have audio guides made up for in foreign languages.

Only visited the Hurricane Katrina exhibition. Very impressive... the human story .... the problems caused by administration .... the courage and sensitivity of the front liners...
The wave of help from outside ..
Never imagined the scale of the disaster

I've been on tons of house tours and Danielle was hands down the best guide I've ever had, so informative and passionate, I would have hired her personally to show me all of New Orleans

This museum houses a nice collection of jazz history. Great artifacts, small gift shop on the first floor and exhibits on the second floor.

A very good but small museum. In a city with so much history it's nice to learn about Voodoo as it often gets misconstrued. There are tons of artifacts to look at in these two rooms. I really enjoyed it. Have to say the person at the front desk was not the most welcoming but maybe they were having a bad day. It was not very crowded when I was there but I can see how it would be too small on a busy day inside this museum. Bring some dollar bills so you can leave an offering. You only need about 30 minutes for this and about $10 a person.

Or maybe Al swings or bops, but he definitely knows an absolute ton about the history of jazz and it’s assorted offshoots. He starts with ancient Egypt and works his way up to modern times via his words and an odd collection of tape decks scattered over two rooms, and pictures and memorabilia that plaster the walls. He also allows dancing but leave your camera in your pocket unless you want a picture with Al but don’t be photographing the exhibits. If you have any interest in jazz you will enjoy an hour with Al, you will learn something and you might find yourself dancing.

As others have mentioned please call first and make an appointment so as to avoid disappointment.

I went there wanting to learn the story of the free non European. I got the truth and nothing but the truth. I was overjoyed to learn what people can do when unfettered by racist laws. I was also saddened to learn what happened when the United States took over and promoted their racist policies. I was reminded that Americans play the long game when it comes to eroding peoples rights.

Le Muse de f.b.c. curates such an authentic experience that centers Black history in New Orleans unlike any other place I’ve been to. I walked away knowing and appreciating the city and it’s culture so much more. Make sure to book an appointment ahead of time as all tours must be scheduled.

Free and open to the public. Chances are you’ll cross this in your exploration of the French quarter so why not have a look. It doesn’t take but about 10 minutes to see everything and the courtyard is beautiful. Great photo op with nice scenery in background. Although they do not let you go into the courtyard so you can take photos on balcony. Small pottery collection and history of building. Great break from souvenir shops

Unfortunately, the main building is undergoing renovations, so we visited the scaled-down version across the street in the Treme district. Still, it was a cool experience. There was an exhibit on early 20th-century photographers and Dutch Moriel, the first black mayor of New Orleans. It is $20 each so a little pricey but worth it to get a true experience of the culture in the city.

Best explanation of what happened during hurricane Katrina. Although a bit out of the way, bus stop right there. Working on a flooded house museum next door.

I had a wonderful visit with artist Charles Gillam at this Algiers Point Destination. Charles is incredibly personable and filled with stories about the Blues greats and also about fellow artists and New Orleans history. Most of his art is for sale and incredibly affordable although you can visit the museum with or without purchasing. A taxi/LYFT ride from the heart of the French Quarter is only like $6 and completely worth a trip. Pure Magic for Folk Art Lovers!

I am a 1st generation Italian American and enjoyed my visit to the museum. It brought back some memories. I did not know that the French Quarter was primarily Italians from Sicily, who also brought Jazz from Chicago at the turn of the century. They came to New Orleans because the weather was the same as in Sicily. The accomplishments were well documented. Our guide was very knowledgable. What shocked me as I visited the museum was the old cobbler's equipment for fixing shoes, which I know only too well, as my father came from Italy and was a shoemaker. The museum still needs to expand and perhaps indicate our contributions to the victory in WWII, the numerous Italian American Medal of Honor winners, and the contributions to the arts and science.
