Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I could have spent 2 days here. The museum is extremely well organized and filled with history - fascinating. The 4D show is tremendous. Don't miss it!

A must!! Free shuttle from Marriott on canal street. Can get discount through groupon. I personally would not walk there. You would be muddling your way through a freight yard train yard, etc..

This is a beautifully laid out garden with sculptures of varied types and styles. It is also next to the botanical gardens which makes for a lovely excursion.

We really enjoyed this self-guided tour of the Pharmaceutical Museum. It houses America's first licensed pharmacist from the 1800s. What struck me most was how so many of the ideas from many decades ago have evolved and improved over the years. It also makes you realize how these improvements have saved so many lives that were previously lost due to infections. And YES! there is a clean bathroom to use at this place!

Great experience for art lovers! Wonderfully surprised. NOMA's collection is not extensive but quite varied--Renaissance, Impressionist, Modern, Decorative Arts, etc.--and is well curated. We spent several hours there with a stop in the excellent cafe for lunch. We ran out of time for the Sculpture Garden (next time...). Highly recommend.

My wife and I visited this museum on Sunday, March 12, 2023. This was our fifth trip to NOLA but first visit to the museum. It is free but you should make a voluntary donation. The museum itself is spectacular, very nicely renovated housing complex with lots of fascinating exhibits over three floors. We were there for almost three hours and did not see everything. In addition to the museum they also have a historic home we did not get to on this visit but plan on visiting on out next trip.

    Fascinating tour and gorgeous house.
They should have room information cards made in various languages ( Spanish, French, German etc) as French speaking visitors couldn’t communicate with the tour guide who has to rely on Google translate. Or have audio guides made up for in foreign languages.

Only visited the Hurricane Katrina exhibition. Very impressive... the human story .... the problems caused by administration .... the courage and sensitivity of the front liners...
The wave of help from outside ..
Never imagined the scale of the disaster

Located in the Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans, this museum is a must for insight into the black community of New Orleans. Focus of the tour is the Mardi Gras Indians. Costumes on display reflect the detail in the costumes, which are hand-made by the participant wearing it. The color and creativity are astounding, and the hours of work each required is obvious. But the costumes are just the start - the communities of African Americans in New Orleans are reflected in the traditions and activities of many groups, including the Mardi Gras Indians, jazz funerals, social aid & pleasure clubs, Baby Dolls, and Skull and Bone gangs. The tour is only able to scratch the surface of the history of this community, but it definitely made me want to find out more.

I thought this would be a yawn. That's the jaded part of me. However, I was enthralled by the variety and beauty of the collection I found here. The day we were there the museum was hosting a Martin Luther King special event which made the museum especially lively - and crowded. I would like to return when I can fully soak in the art.

I've been on tons of house tours and Danielle was hands down the best guide I've ever had, so informative and passionate, I would have hired her personally to show me all of New Orleans

This is a small museum founded by aging survivors of the Confederate Army at the turn of 20th century. It is small but contains some interesting original items. The most impressive exhibits, at least to me, was several extremely well preserved officers uniforms that looked like they just left the tailor's shop. The museum is well located in the revitalizing warehouse district of New Orleans with many parking options. It is worth a side trip from the nearby World War II museum.

Recently toured this museum. The house was a great example of the historic residence and it was very interesting to see the layout of the property. The rooms are all furnished and there was information to read about the past residents and the neighborhood. We purchased a ticket at an adjoining affiliated museum and it was a great bargain. There are steps to climb and also some of the property is located outside via a balcony. There is a nice gift shop associated with the museum. Touring the house takes about 45 minutes.
