Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Roberts69Northampton, UK18,033 contributionsLafayette Cemetery No. 1 is a historic cemetery in the Garden District neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. It was founded in 1833 and still in use today and was included in the National Register of Historic Places on February 1, 1972, for its architectural and social-historical importance. Unfortunately the cemetery has very limited opening hours and so when I visited I could not walk around the cemetery but that said it was still an interesting place to see even just from the gates!!Written 13 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tansy2015Brighton, MI333 contributionsAt the end of the line for the red trolly. Get off to the right, cross the bridge and it’s on the right side of the street. Paul Prudhomme is buried here.Written 21 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Angie GEdmonton, Canada80 contributionsDefinitely worth a visit. A somber, but peaceful and beautiful place. I wished I had brought beads to lay down, as many others had. You can get here on the streetcar that runs down Canal St called Cemeteries.Written 12 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - StephenCrossDublin, Ireland17,740 contributionsWe visited the cemetery and found it a bit depressing and overall sad. It feels like most people have been forgotten about, which is sad.Written 15 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - StephenCrossDublin, Ireland17,740 contributionsThis cemetery is off Route 10 and truly runes for miles. It is simply huge. It’s about 3 miles from downtown New Orleans and on the way to the airport.Written 11 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - StephenCrossDublin, Ireland17,740 contributionsInteresting cemetery and not like most others in New Orleans as the bodies here are buried underground. There are a lot of war vets buried here.Written 13 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sharon_zzSpain5,326 contributionsOur friends started their own "Cemetery Tour", and we joined them in the "Garden District" cemetery. I had an Idea, to try and find the Jewish cemetery. With a little help from "Google" and "Waze" navigator, we arrived at the most beautiful cemetery. Usually there is nothing to see at a Jewish cemetery, only a simple grave stone. That's because the 2nd commandment from the "10 Commands" of the bible: "Do not make any Idol". As the famous phrase say :"when in Rome act like the Romans",same is also said for New Orleans. Here in 1860, when they founded this cemetery, the Jewish started to make some beautiful grave stones. Nowadays the cemetery has 3 lots. The first one was in use till 1896, and you can see in it the influence of New Orleans's grave stone ornaments. From the stones we saw that a lot of Jews were born in France, The Netherlands and Germany. The grave stone that I liked best was the one of Harriette Levi, who died at the age of 44. Her image is engraved on the column gravestone.Written 9 October 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- StephenCrossDublin, Ireland17,740 contributionsNew Orleans has many cemeteries and most including this one are above ground due to the flooding. This particular cemetery is where many of the Irish are buried. Its worth a visit.Written 20 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
