Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Attended a concert at Verizon Hall to see the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra. Beautiful facility with tons of space. Staff members are attentive and friendly.

The Academy of Music in Philadelphia is a gorgeous, 165-year-old facility and, as such, you have to engage in a bit more preparation to attend an event there than you might at a more modern facility. My wife and I attended a performance of " Beautiful: The Carole King Musical " on February 23, 2022 (our Valentine's Day gift to each other), and had a wonderful time.......You will as well, IF...........

    1) You check CAREFULLY for obstructed seats before purchasing. The building has ceiling support pillars on all levels except the main-floor Parquet seating, and you could easily have an obscured view. The pillars come into play in row D of the Balcony level, row C of the Family Circle and row B of the Amphitheatre. Any seats further back in those levels either are obstructed, or require your unobstructed seat to view the show between pillars. We sat in Section E, Row A of the Amphitheatre, and did just fine.
    2) You are aware that the steps are steep, especially in the Amphitheatre. The facility is not up to current building codes......DON'T take folks with mobility issues to the top, both because of the steps which you must climb to get there (find the elevator), and the steep climb down to your seats from the foyer outside the theatre.
    3) You know in advance that most seats will improve your posture! The seat backs are, as mentioned in another review, pretty much at a 90 degree angle with the actual seat. Therefore, leg room and comfort are not at a premium.

However, if you take into account those issues, definitely a must see! The ushers were delightful and friendly on the Amphitheatre level when we went; the theatre is clean and charming; the parking garage underneath the Verizon Hall facility one block down is easily accessible (albeit a bit pricey at $ 30.00 for a performance) and we had a wonderful evening!

One other issue (which the Kimmel folks tell you on the website) - Due to a concrete island in the middle of Broad Street, you MUST approach the theatre complex and parking garage entrance driving SOUTH on Broad Street away from City Hall, facilitating a right turn only into the garage. If you have never maneuvered around City Hall in a car, it is a bit challenging, but do-able. Plan before you go, and you will be fine.

Overall, would give our evening a 4.5-4.6, if fractions were allowed on this rating system.

As a music venue the World Cafe Live is excellent. The seafaring is comfortable and the sound is good. The food options are limited and average. The “upswell” eggplant fries are a good choice. The cocktails are inconsistent.

Beautiful old theater. Nothing wrong that money couldn't fix. Has to do with accommodating handicapped and seniors.

I don't understand all of the negative reviews. This venue is perfect. We were concerned about the parking based on other reviews but we got there at 6 pm for a 7:30 pm start (Bonnie Raitt) and we had NO problems with parking. NONE. Staff were kind, considerate professional and helpful. Bathrooms were clean (but there were lines for the ladies). There were no long lines for beer. Mind you, we got there early, about 90 minutes before the show started. I would not recommend flitting in at the last minute and expecting a get a drink and food and getting to your seat 10 minutes before show time. Don;t be an idiot. Leave early, give yourself plenty of time, and pregame in the parking areas. The views if the skyline were wonderful. Drink prices were high, so bring chairs, bring a cooler, and get there way early and party in the parking area before the show starts. That is the way to handle this venue. Bonnie was fantastic at 70 years old!

So glad the in person experience is back, done thoughtfully, paying close attention to safety. Masks, absolutely. Vaccine status checked at the door. Socially distant seating. Limited patrons permitted.
Great place to get a cup of freshly brewed coffee before the show. Performance was outstanding- Minor Characters. A must see and si good to see the actors in person. Bravo!

The costumes, the dance, the orchestra and the overall performance was amazing. I took my 9 and 12 years old sons and they really enjoyed

We saw G-Love… great show! Paid an extra $100 to sit in the balcony. Right after the show we were told we couldn’t use the restroom and had to leave the venue. Seriously? After paying an upcharge? And can’t use the restroom? Definitely not a good ending to a great night.

This was a great place to see a show but, that wasn’t a bad thing at all. Every band sounded great. Definitely stand upstairs if you can

this is a small theater where the stage is often surrounded on three sides. We first went for a Shakespeare play, then the second year for two plays, and next season we have season tickets. The plays are done with minomal scenery. We like to sit in the first row, as we feel sometimes we are in the play. Often when the actors make a side comment they will face the people nearest them. We love their plays.

Being someone that frequently sees theater performances in Philadelphia, EgoPo is a whole new and refreshing experience. The directing and staging of these shows are fantastic, creative, and innovative. Each show is different and refreshing, which is usually hard to do with plays that are classics but EgoPo repeatedly succeeds.

The small space (The Latvian) in which these plays are performed adds to the enjoyment of the performances due to the intimate nature it gives to the performances, that is so important in the creation of theater. The selection of plays are important and thought provoking in the way they are packaged and presented in the season. I will definitely continue to visit.

This is a very historic theater that has featured all sorts of performances over the years including strippers! It's a fine old theater and I wonder if it is closing.

I love Ballet X because it incorporates classical ballet with modern dance. The company has great energy. The dancers are so connected with each other. We have been subscribers for many years and are always delighted with each performance.

We went to see the Marriage of Figaro. The orchestra was fantastic, and the performance first rate. People in the area don't realize what a world-class gem this institution is, right here in our back yard, so to speak. The singers, the production, the stage design --all were excellent. And the building provides an intimate experience. On the ride home, husband turned on the radio, and I asked him not to, not wanting to lose the music, which I could still hear in my head.
