Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I would recommend to visit Empire State Building as it gives you a great view and you can see the whole city - different parts, statues, main building etc. Good to understand its position etc. The service was very good as well. Not so many people there in March.

Popped over to Roosevelt Island on the cable car which was just $2.75 each way. It only took 4 mins to get there and we were able to have a lovely stroll to take pictures of Manhattan’s coastline. It was a very peaceful place. We sat in the sunshine and listened to the hubbub of manhattans busy street s whilst peacefully relaxing.

We had to return twice because it was not open on. St.Patrick’s day. The building and the interior were beautiful but we especially wanted to see the reading room and were told we had to do a tour which did not start for another 2 hours. As looking inside would only take 2 minutes we were not willing to wait. This was very disappointing and should be more visible on websites so that visitors can plan more accordingly to the times of access.

Macy's Herald Square in Manhattan NYC is one of the largest -- and one of the oldest -- department stores in the US. It was built and opened as a department store in this location in 1902. By now, the building was renovated multiple times.

But it still looks very dated: very low ceilings, poor ventilation and lighting, overall subdued colors of the interior. Even the old wooden escalator (sic!) is still in operation! After a few years, I again visited Macy's last month -- and found pretty much the same as I saw before, as far as its interior design and decor, and general ambiance in it. The store wasn't busy.

But Macy's getting ready for spring, regardless -- and in the ladies apparel departments, I could see some new fashion ideas -- spring styles and brighter colors. Famous brands, too -- DKNY, RL, CK, and many others. The staff I talked to were polite and helpful with directions to several departments. The store is huge -- its retail space is 1.25 million square feet (116,000 sq m)!

Hopefully, Macy's will look more cheerful -- and busier! -- with a lighter, sunnier, and warmer season coming up, and with more customers shopping in this flagship department store.

We didn’t wake up early, just enjoyed the vibe on this day. Saw the parade towards to the end, and even with sardine cans of people it was fun. Felt safe and relived my childhood

Yeah it’s a library, but books and studying aside, firstly the building is a lovely piece of architecture within an open space in the middle of the city, and second it is some great exhibits.
Found this on our last morning visiting the big apple, and it was a lovely way to end our trip. Including the first print of the King James Bible, Charles Dickens chair and desk, and the original Winnie ther Pooh bears/toys. What a treat!

  • PROS
    • Famous because of the song
    • So centrally located in midtown Manhattan
    * Adjacent to Empire State Building and Macy’s and on Broadway
    • Seats and tables in pedestrian areas

    CONS
    • Not much else of tourist interest here

    “I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
… on my path of walking excursion of 26,308 steps of midtown Manhattan. Others had informed me that there was not much notable there, and they were correct.

    TIPS
See it if you are there and pass by it. Certainly do not make a special trip to be there.

We stopped by Kinokuniya and the Cafe Zaiya on the second floor on our second day in the city. We left with a few unique items and wishing we had more time to explore the store. The unique, robust collection of Asian books, magazines, comic books, and collectibles - particularly upstairs. The downstairs appeared to be a more traditional book store. My only concerns were that the book store was crowded - even with a line to get in the door, and that the bathrooms were down - replaced with a sign directing you to the park across the street. The store also had fairly long lines to make your purchases. Still - many will find this store a rare treasure.

Modell's does not have the selection in sporting goods that Dick's. They are a local chain that provides old fashioned service. I got a fantastic price on a new pair of sneakers. Always a pleasure shopping here.

Visited this wonderful building with my wife and were lucky enough to take part in a tour hosted by Bro Louis Cooper. He was so informative and passionate about both Freemasonry and the building.

The lodge rooms are jaw dropping. The scale and decor are beautiful.

Well worth a visit for Masons and non Masons alike.

Bryant Park covers a few square blocks. It is situated between 5th and 6th Avenue and 40th street. It’s really nice and alternates what is in the park over the seasons.

The American Standard Building was known as the American Radiator Building when it opened in 1924. The landmark 23-story skyscraper is located across from the south edge of Bryant Park and is now home to the Bryant Park Hotel.

If in the midtown/Times Square area it is worth strolling by to view the magnificent facade of this building. The exterior, which combined Gothic and modern styles, has been beautifully restored. The dark brick (symbolizing coal) and gold accents (symbolizing fire) make for a colorful and beautiful facade.

The notable restoration is all on the exterior. We walked into the hotel lobby but there didn’t appear to be original features.
