This was an even more belated trip after Covid postponed the original event in 2021!
First of all Eric is great when it comes to arranging your charter, very responsive, loads of detail and happy to answer any questions you might have. I told him what I was looking for and he was happy to make sure that I'd be getting the sort of experience I was looking for.
The charter itself was exceptional - we had a great day weather-wise, nice and warm but a little intermittent cloud cover so as not to bake on deck! We met Eric on the pier, he showed us onto the boat, told us a little bit about it and we got going.
He's the perfect host, a really interesting guy with lots of great stories about the boat itself and the local area. He has a great knack of being around when you want to have a chat about anything, and being in the background when you wanted to enjoy the view or some time with who you're with. He was also super helpful grabbing snacks/drinks although towards the end of the charter my sea-legs had arrived making me more comfortable walking across the boat with a bottle of wine!
We saw all the sights up and down the Hudson, going all the way round up up to Williamsburg under the Brooklyn & Manhatten bridges. The wind was good enough to allow us plenty of free sailing which was great, powered by the big maroon sails!
Eric was happy to take, and knew exactly where to stand for a series of iconic pictures with the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, the New York skyline and many others - we came way with some many fantastic photos.
I can't recommend Eric and Narwhal Charters enough, it's a must do activity in New York for me and I'd definitely say to go for the full 4 hours, the time flew by.

- Cindy TTexarkana, TX22 contributionsHere are the good points: It was raining like hell on NYE in NYC this year, so this boat was the place to be as far as I'm concerned. It was a little difficult getting to the dock area bc it was so crowded. We paid $500 a person and had the 4 course dinner. The service was great. Erika did an great job. We had a table by a window, and we had a fabulous time. Fun dancing downstairs, open bar, nice fire works. Magical evening.
All that said....if you are serving filet mignon and lobster tail, then it should be cooked to perfection...especially if I'm paying $500 a person (there were 6 of us). All steaks had to be medium and were not really, and the lobster tail was dry with no drawn butter. That was disappointing but did not ruin my night. I also wish you could have gotten a little closer to the statue of liberty, but whatevs.....

We had some extra time after enjoying our horse carriage ride so we decided to rent a rowboat. It was a fun and mellow activity for the family. Keep in mind that you cannot switch rowers midway so agree on a rower! You can row under the Bow Bridge and enjoy a view of skyscrapers from the water. The basking turtles are also fun to look at. Make sure you bring $40 cash. $20 will be refunded if you bring the boat back within the hour. He was fantastic to work with and when my daughter and her friends arrived on the boat, the crew was amazing! They had a great and safe time!

- Footprints7970451 contributionHow do I begin? First, the Boat showed up late! Approximately, (30 minutes), then I was approached by the captain (David Rodriguez) asking me "If I myself and friends were okay with him smoking Marijuana"? I replied " I don't like it or care for Marijuana smoking as long it is out of my vicinity, because it makes me sick". Next, we boarded the Yacht NOT thoroughly CLEANED after a group of people had just gotten off whom we met outside before entering. So we decided to bring our own Lysol and sanitizer. After anchoring the Yacht, in the Sandbar we experienced a TERRIBLE encounter. Another boat pulled up next to the 47' Silverton and a female came aboard and joined our event WITHOUT permission. I myself and friends were caught off guard by a STRANGER non- associated with our group allowed to board the boat. I immediately requested for her to leave. Minutes later, the Captain approaches me and ask if it's okay for his friend boat dock next to us but No one will be allowed to board the boat that I rented for ONLY me and my friends. Again, a 17 year old kid boards our rental, goes into the cabin to get a couple of paper towels in the area were our Food and belongings were. Then he proceeds to the upper deck and jumps off the Yacht. I then decided to contact the owner (Alejandra) about the incidents occurring during our rental agreement and she ONLY made excuses for her crew which involved her husband onboard during the entire time these unwarranted incidents occurred. I also have a video of the intruders, the Captain and her husband allowing the intruders to utilize the water toys I rented for this event. Alejandra continued to make EXCUSES. The website also show jet ski as one of the amenities, same section as the microwave. Alejandra stated " It was meant for requesting. So, "I guess that you have to ask to use the microwave as well". I must say " I WILL NEVER RENT THIS YACHT or ANY YACHT under Alejandra AGAIN.
I am a Honorable Discharged Veteran and I have NEVER felt so Disrespected 🇺🇸

We typically do this twice each season when we are able. We have used three different companies in past years to book our charters with and by far this was the best experience we have ever had.
There prompt response, and pricing was not just what has sold us on them, but there ability to go above and beyond was incredible. They even provide us with a Stretch Limo to visit the yacht prior to our booking it. We will only use Freedom Luxury from now on and would strongly recommend them to anyone who is looking to rent a yacht in New York or New Jersey. Thank you for an amazing experience, and we will be sure to see you again in the fall. I worked with Margarita who was super nice and communicative until I paid. Then it was a nightmare to get her on the phone. I would send emails and texts and calls and would go weeks before I would get a return call. She did finally message me back as it got closer to the cruise. I asked if we could adapt the bar since we paid for 40 people and only 30 were coming. She confirmed in email that they would upgrade the bar to a top shelf but they could not do a cash bar since it was already paid. However the day before the cruise, she called and said she could not upgrade the bar. She also mentioned that she had “great news” that they wanted to “upgrade” me to a newer and much smaller boat! She said the only way they would upgrade the bar was if I took this “upgrade” to the smaller boat. I did not want this “upgraded” boat as it was much smaller and was not conducive to the experiences we were planning and the weather was supposed to be bad and the boat I rented was covered and the new one was not. When I informed them that it would not take the “upgrade” they refused to upgrade the bar as they had already promised.
Once I arrived on the boat to set up, Kelvin was very kind and met me and showed me around. He was very accommodating and kind. He introduced me to the others on the boat who would be helping. The bar tender was very kind yet flirty (I guess he wanted some tips and a possible date as he even hit on my wife (the birthday girl).
All in all, the cruise itself was great. Incredible views of the city and all of our guests had a great time.
Things I wish I would have known:
- They will not accommodate to any dietary restrictions
- They will NOT follow through on written promises (upgraded bar).
-you cannot play music while at the dock (30 min before and after as you are leaving the dock and returning to the doc)
-we arrived back to the dock early and it was expected that we depart the boat early even though we had it rented until 11 and they were pushy to get us off.
- They provide ZERO directions on how to board the boat or how to communicate to guests where to go to board the boat. There were TONS of people boarding and many boats and every person in my party had to call me and we had to send Kelvin out numerous times to escort people back to the boat. It was very chaotic.
I would suggest looking for other options but from what I understand, this company owns several of the boats and there are others who “resell” the same boats with mark up. That could have been misleading but that is what I was told during the booking process.
