Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent museum. We stayed 3 hours and still did not see everything. Tied together a lot of what we saw in Boston, Providence and Newport (plus a ton of other art and history information in addition).

This is not our first time to the ISG museum, but I haven’t reviewed it previously. You must get your tickets before going in order to ensure entry (they sell out quite often). Once you’re inside, the best thing to do is just wander, allowing yourself the freedom to enjoy the random placement of works from the old world masters. Plan to spend about 2 hours here!

The Boston Athenaeum is a membership library which opened its doors in 1807. It now has more than 600,000 titles. We took a tour which was scheduled for an hour but went for more than 90minutes! That's either a good thing or inconsiderate to the guests. Since there were so many cool things to see, we called it good. It has multiple floors, each with its own reading room. The architecture is classical. Possibly the neatest feature was a bookcase that King William III gave to Boston's King's Chapel in 1698. That's right, the 17th century! The art collection is small but very nice. If you like books and Boston history, this is a good place to visit.

As members of the Historic New England preservation group, my wife and I had been looking forward to visiting the Otis House in Boston. We paid a visit last weekend. Cassandra took us on our tour. She was well-spoken and extremely knowledgeable about every detail of the home and its history and had delightful personality too. The home is simply loaded with interesting artifacts of the day and every room showed evidence of the groups painstaking attention to detail. Otis may not be the largest or most glamorous of the Historic New England homes. But the fact that people fought to ensure its preservation while most every structure around it was razed to accommodate the growing city truly makes it significant. When in Boston, we certainly recommend stopping in to learn this home's story from the dedicated and genuinely friendly staff.

    Better than Expected

While short on the number of galleries, it was interesting viewing. I would not have paid the admission price, though. We used our Museums on Us to get in. The $20 admission for what is available is overpriced.

I've been here a few times for different shows and have always been very happy and intrigued with them. The building is lovely, the admission is free, and the whole experience is worth the ride out of town!

The space is smaller than I expected and while the current show was interesting I would have loved to see more old maps. The maps on display were around a theme, interesting for sure and well thought out. I was hoping for more but am still glad we stopped by

We were lucky and got to take a tour with a school group. It was led by some of the Clerks working for the supreme court judges. They took us all around and showed us the rooms with historical exhibits. They were very patient and answered everyone's questions and even posed questions that made us think about the law and how courts work. We even got to sit and watch a court session with a lawyer speaking for her clients and the judges asking question of the lawyer. Later the kids got to meet a judge.
    A great experience.

There is only one room with actual artwork, extremely small museum. paintings were cool, but not worth the visit to just see one exhibit.

went with kids ages 5, 12, and 15. the exhibits are cute, nice to look at, but nothing I haven't seen in other places. nothing that really "wow"ed any of us. the special exhibit was again, cool to experience, but it's timed, so not too much time on that. I felt it was a nice time out, but about 3 times too expensive for the experience we got.
would not return and would not reccomend.
