Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The views of the bay and city are lovely. If you walk/ride there prepare for a climb. But, this is definitely the best way there. It’s part of the experience to walk up the street to get there. When there, it’s a short elevator ride to the top. Place is small, but the views are worth the effort.

The Shrine is only open by appointment at the moment. We were very fortunate to meet the priest in the main church and he graciously set a time to meet us a later time. He was very informative and gracious.

Looking for things to do near the Presidio, I saw Yoda Fountain on Google Maps so we decided to visit. Turns out that it is in a newly developed commercial area of the Presidio where Lucasfilm is located. The guard let us into the lot to park and told us to be sure to look in the windows behind the fountain. Yoda is fairly small but worth a selfie. In the windows behind the fountain in the lobby (not open to the public), you can see other Lucasfilm character models. We decided to stroll further to see what else was there and found grassy areas with a view of the Palace of Fine Arts and the bay. There are also two statues of film and TV pioneers, the inventor of the zoetrope, Eadweard James Muybridge, and Philo Farnsworth, inventor of TV. We were hungry so we stopped at the Starbucks for coffee to warm up and get sandwiches. Watching the employees was a hoot—one in a WALL-E on a poodle-style skirt and another with a Star Wars lunch box. We admired the well-done landscaping on our way back to the car.

Not worth it if you're walking, in any other two-wheel vehicle the ride is short from the yatch clubs and the place is usually empty, so it could be a good place to sit and catch a break. No sound from the wave organ around noon, you'll have to go closer to sunrise/sunset.

A pause in the pulse of touring, cycling or hiking the Presidio. I recommend a stop here, whether to pray or to ponder man's inhumanity to man.

This statue sits almost unnoticed in the middle of the plaza behind the Port of San Francisco Ferry Terminal.
It is a tribute to a man of peace who stated that “Non-Violence is the greatest force at the disposal of Mankind. It is the supreme law. By it alone can mankind be saved.”

We visited the Civic Center and went to see the Pioneer Monument. This is a monument to the pioneers to California and specifically San Francisco.

I was walking in the area and saw this statue. It is nicely done if you happen to be walking through the area. It has a nice bronze patina.

We came upon this while walking along the wharf. This is one of many interesting sites nearby. Be sure to check out the sea lions at pier 39.

You can find these artistic hearts ("I Left My Heart...") in many parts of town. Right here in Union Square they look pretty good and lots of people stop here to take a photo.

I visited the building at 500 California Street. It is also called the Corporate Godnesses. It is one of the most photographed buildings in the Financial District of San Franicsco.

The Korean War is seldom talked about as we get further away from the 1950's. Yet the numbers of casualties from this war is staggering. This memorial offers a bit of history concerning the circumstances and events of the Korean War.

Unless you are specifically looking for the memorial it could be easily missed. It is located across the street and downhill east of the entrance to the National Cemetery and is accessed by a short path.

This is a statue in front of the City Hall. We once stood in front of it for a long time during a demonstration. Just a statue, not really a tourist attraction.
