Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I come to San Francisco for years and still I learned and discovered so much during this one morning tour. Our guide Christian was simply great, very enthusiastic. He really knows how to share his enthusiasm about the city and is very friendly. He will also advise where to grab cheap and delicious food or take a drink where the locals go. Thank you very much Christian!

Lisa gave us an amazing tour of the 18th street Mission food area. Sweets, Mexican, Guamese and the best burger you could imagine to name just a few of the stops. Her local knowledge combined with professional experience made this tour a highlight of our stay in SF.

I have been visiting San Francisco every year for past 9 years,I discovered B&Blues on my first visit and the club is now my main reason to keep going back to SF. In fact my choice of weeks for holiday are chosen in advance by checking out what artists are playing & when. For anyone who loves the Blues,I highly advise taking in a night or 2 at Biscuits & Blues while you are in town … The atmosphere is great ..dark and intimate, all tables are very close to stage … I can also recommend the food ( southern fried chicken my favourite )….A Great NIght Out !!!

During our March stay at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square, we visited their lovely CityScape Lounge, for some wine.

Luckily, on this visit, we did not have the fog, from previous visits, so got to take in some of the lovely views, from the top floor of the hotel’s Tower 1.

Once this space was the Hilton HHonors Lounge, but was converted into a meeting space, and then repurposed as CityScape, a few years back. It is a lovely venue, and functions as a “rooftop lounge,” but has two somewhat separate areas: first, there is a central bar area (lots of purple/magenta lighting), but that is surrounded on 3 sides by the lounge area (more subdued lighting but expect some bleed of the purple/magenta from the bar area), with stadium seating, of sorts. This area consists of a raised seating area, back a bit from the walls of windows, with a lower seating area, next to those windows. There are different seating arrangements, from larger tables, with sofa-style seating, small tables, and then bistro-style tables, with stools. On this visit, we were seated on the raised area, but had great views, because the window seating was lower, than we were.

On this visit, my wife met me at CityScape, since she had a business dinner, and I dined solo elsewhere. I had to text her instructions for finding the correct elevator from the ground floor in Tower 1, as the signage is not 100% clear – even though she and I had been up to CityScape before. Just read the signs at the bank of elevators carefully.

Since we had both eaten, we did not even look at the menu of bar food, and went straight to a couple of glasses of Pinot Noir - the Belle Glos “Las Alturas” Santa Lucia Highlands. Now, the wine list is short (I think that cocktails and beer are the prime focus for most patrons), but does have enough choices to keep us happy.

The views (if there is no fog) are spectacular, and few other bars/lounges in San Francisco offer anything close.

During our visit, the noise level was minimal, but on a previous visit, the bar area was full, and very loud – so one’s experience could differ, by the evening.

Our service was good, though we did have to flag down our server to settle the bill, but think that he was busier with the tables along the windows.

In all, this was a very good visit, and the City was glowing, down below us. We will return, and maybe try to catch sunset.

What a fun and historical bar! It's right next to City Lights Bookstore, and they often had Beat poets read there back in the day. The wall has many fun pictures. The drinks are reasonable. The inside of the bar has that gritty, hippie look. They have music but it wasn't overbearing and we could hear each other talk. We left there to go to another bar and ended up wishing we had stayed here!

Been coming to this watering hole for over 50 years. They are the originators of the Irish Coffe (At $12 a pop you can get a quick drunk for about $50 bucks) Most interesting to watch the old-time bartenders create a dozen drinks at a time. The food is great, especially the breakfasts (nothing like a crab meat omelet in the morning. At the end of the cable car line.

A classic dive bar solely focused on craft beer. Big selection of local and nearby breweries and everything is top notch. Fairly exclusive bottle collection of vintage and one-off brews. Some bottles made specifically for the Toronado. Not kid friendly. Nice service, good prices. Cash only.
