What travellers are saying
- Nicholas SChicago, IL5 contributionsThe museum is fantastic with detailed exhibits of schooner ship construction and a great submarine docked alongside. You can walk through the sub and get the feel of being an underwater mariner. There are also models of a number of ships that AIL THE GREAT LAKES.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Monica V1 contributionBeautiful museum we took a lot of pictures. I went here with my friend. It was her first time visiting the museum. Everything about the museum is just so relaxing and so elegant! Been coming here since I was really young. 10 out of 10 experienceWritten 11 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AndrewFromMadisonMadison, WI3,413 contributionsJust like in many other places, I visited mostly seeking a railroad portion of the history, the depot in particular. The museum inside the depot is tiny, and not that much to see. The building itself is very small, but reflects well the depots built in small towns back in the day. There is a very interesting and rare locomotive sitting just outside, plus a caboose, of course.Written 25 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John WLostant, IL2,244 contributionsThis was a quick stop before making our way back home. I seen pictures of the zoo and didn’t know what to expect but it turns out we were able to see quite a bit. The animals they have outside are regional or are from areas with a similar climate so like a Cougar, Lynx, Buffalo, and a Bear. A couple of the enclosures were empty but there’s evidence of future improvements. The Asiatic Black Bear, the big cats, and Buffalo were out and active with decent sized enclosures for a small zoo. There’s a small building with some reptiles including a large tortoise and very nicely kept.Written 12 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JennieMiddleton, WI3 contributionsThe Hobie pedal kayaks are the best! Rent from Mary in the office. The young summer hires give excellent instructions and assist with kayak cast off. We have rented the tandem kayak several times, and find the trip up the river a pleasant experience.Written 29 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tina MAvon, IN15 contributionsIt will take atleast 4 hours to go through all 36 holes of course. A great hike, as you do the difficult course. There is a couple of holes along Lake Michigan. One hole had to be adjusted as a tree had fallen on the tee.Written 21 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pfefmeisterSan Francisco, CA3,043 contributionsGreat new location along the river, with a wonderful open seating indoor space and an attractive outdoor beer garden. They were setting up a stage for live music the afternoon we visited. Huge pretzels and well brewed beers, with choices to please all palettes.
