- IdlerWolverhampton, UK2,762 contributionsIf you're going from north to south (or south to north) in Lanzarote, the best route is through the mind-boggling winelands, where each vine often has its painstakingly constructed dry stone wall to gather the moisture in the night air (because it doesn't rain here much). We stopped a couple of times, for wines and plates of cheese. It's like no other place on earth, and the wines aren't half bad. Tip- the sweet ones are the best with cheese. - David DDevon, UK15,473 contributionsThursday 13th January and we visited the Salt Beds, Las Salinas de Jaubio, which are situated between Las Breñas and El Golfo.
Due to the size of the vast Salt Beds, they can be seen from some distance. It was very interesting to see how the Salt Beds were fed with the constant flowing water and the process of making salt. We could see salt beds filled with salt crystals.
There were another couple of features which added to the level of interest here.
It is home to the statue of Los Salineros and Salineras de Janubio and the Crab Sculpture.
